I'm almost afraid to ask, but what is/was lexxopocalypse?

The lexxpocalypse was a thing back in....a few years ago now? That basically what happened was the day I was recording for Disney, aka no technology in the studio, the phandom (not knowing I wasn't there) all decided to change their pfp to match mine and a bunch of people made alt accounts that were some variation of 'lexx' or [redacted] (aka lexx with one x). Think like 'lexolearnus' aka the informative lexx blog and 'lexochorus' aka a musical lexx blog. They all had some sort of theme. At the epicenter was 'lexovorus' because that's absolutely hysterical.

So this chaos erupted, I wasn't there, so a lot of people assumed I was running it. I was not, I was off playing wind instruments in a basement somewhere (literally).

And when I say choas, I mean like probably a solid 60-70% of the active phandom was participating.

So picture this. You're me, getting home after a no-tech weekend, logging onto Tumblr dot com, and your dash loads and the entire dash is variations of your pfp and variations of your username.

Honestly, it was really fucking funny.

So with that, a game ensued where non-lexx blogs played detective and through a series of clues and sleuthing, would "unmask" the various lexx blogs.

The entire event lasted about a month before everyone either was unmasked or just revealed themselves. It was all in good fun, and the shenanigans ended up attracting a good number of new phandom ppl who are all very sweet and nice individuals.

what's lexxapocalypse? what's a lexx blog?

Haha, this is going to sound weird, but at one point a few years ago, when I was first getting into the tumblr phandom, everyone in the phandom decided to make lexx impersonation blogs. Much like Elvis impersonators, we all knew none of them were lexx, but there were some double-takes and confusion, which we all thrived on.

I believe the instigating incident was @babypop-phantom deciding to make a vore joke and slander* @lexosaurus all in one fell swoop, by making the blog @lexovorus. Before long, we had blogs like @lexavocodo @lexxopedia @lexxiety-and-lexxpression @lexxopuppo @lexx-2point0 @lexolearnus and it went on and on.

At the end of it, a lot of the lexx blogs repurposed themselves as DP sideblogs. @kinglazrus and @mr-lancers-english-class started out as lexolazrus and lexothesaurus respectively, if I recall correctly.

The kicker? Lexx was gone that first week of the lexxpocalypse. Offline. She wasn't even there. I can hardly imagine what it must have been like, turning tumblr back on after a week and everyone has strapped on a mask modeled after after your face. Surreal.

*The term slander is being used in a joking context, this was all in good fun.

So, you guys remember good old Ea-Nasir?  The copper merchant from ancient Mesopotamia who kept stiffing his customers out of their money and copper, and then kept their complaint letters stored in a room in his house, to be found by archaeologists thousands of years later?

Well, I recently learned something that makes that story even better.  Most clay tablets from that time period were made of unfired clay, which means that they degraded over time, getting washed away by weather and such.  Some of the fired tablets were fired on purpose, but others were fired accidentally when the building they were stored in were burnt down.  

That means that in this case there are three options.  (1) The tablets in Ea-Nasir’s house were unfired and just really randomly lucky to survive.  (2) Ea-Nasir’s house was burnt down, likely by someone he owed money to.  (3) Ea-Nasir not only kept a bunch of complaint letters in his house, but fired them to preserve them.

Remember in the first phandom apocalypse everyone pretended I was all of the alternate lexx accounts? That was fun.
