Demo Drop Announcement!

The first part of the demo will be posted tomorrow, 7 January at 10am GMT! It contains the prologue/character creator and part 1 (out of hopefully 3 parts) of Chapter 1. It's rather short, but I wanted to go ahead and get something put out instead of making people wait for the entire first chapter.

Ch1pt2 is currently at just over 12,000 words, not including the code skeleton for the parts of it I haven’t written yet! Slowly but surely it’s all coming together.

Hello, just played and absolutely adored this game! I was just wondering if it was still being worked on? I hope so, because I'm looking forward to any new updates!

I appreciate the kind words! I very much am still working on the game! I’m in my last year of uni (still one more semester left to go in the fall) and while I am writing where I can, come mid-May I’ll have a lot more time on my hands to dedicate to the game (at which point I’ll probably be able to give a rough estimate of when ch1pt2 will be released). I’m also planning on setting up a patreon once the next part is up, so when I don’t have access to my drafts I’ve been jotting down ideas for that on my phone. At that mid-May point where the semester ends I’ll also just make a bunch of stuff for that, to make sure that when the next semester starts there’ll still be a steady stream of content prepared for the patreon.

If you’ve sent an ask recently do know that I see it and have plans to go through my inbox soon! Some unexpected life things happened and I haven’t been able to be as present on tumblr as I’d like but I am working hard on ch1pt2.

Hard at work on Chapter 1! It’s mostly taking so long because I made creative choices that are absolutely making this harder on me than it needs to be, but the end result is absolutely turning out to be worth it. Since Chapter 1 is going to be quite long (all the chapters are really), I’ll probably upload it in 2 or 3 parts so that you all don’t have to wait as long. I also suspect Chapter 1 is taking longer than other chapters will to write because this is the first time you’re meeting these characters, which means I’ve been rewriting their first scenes a lot to make sure I get their initial vibe exactly right (this is especially tricky for a character like the Voice, who has to be just the right degree of authoritative, scary, affectionate, protective, controlling, caring etc without being too much of any of them)

Hi, do you have an estimate for when the demo will be out?

I do not, mostly because I am in university and my schedule's a little unpredictable at this time of year, and while I'm reasonably confident I'll have the start of a demo (a prologue and chapter 1) ready by the end of December I don't want to promise that when there's the chance it'll take a little longer.

I do actually have a prologue completed, however I wasn't going to post that on its own just because it's mostly the character creator and a tiny snippet of writing. If people are interested though I certainly will post that on its own!
