so we finally know who polo morín is playing!!!!!
I FUCKING KNEW IT (okay so i didn’t call the whole “morphed character” thing but i did guess raf even though he’s young for that character but i digress)
so okay wait that means the entire ending has to shift away from raf’s involvement…which is annoying but not integral to the themes of the story. fine whatever.
um HOLD UP. does that mean no “sería una mentira, porque no sería él”?! because i am NOT OKAY WITH THAT! EXCUSE YOU!!
some of the comments i’ve seen now question whether alex is going to have a bi awakening now bc of this new character AND I SWEAR IF THEY TAKE THAT FROM US, THEY’LL CATCH THESE HANDS 👏👏
i’m scared for june. i’ve always been scared for june and nora. like when matthew was announced to direct, i really thought about what would be cut in order to make the movie possible (sorry to liam fans but i always thought he’d be out), and one of those cuts was june or nora because they are so easily combinable (even though i don’t want them to be (do not come for me)). and this announcement makes me think i was right to be worried.
rip raf and liam. y’all were the real ones 😘✌️
still excited to see the movie tbh
if you’re upset about this news, it helps to think of the book and movie as completely separate works of art. like i know we want a perfect adaptation, but we were never going to have that, especially with a two-hour time frame. what’s important is for the movie (and adaptations in general) to reflect the themes and feelings from the book. it doesn’t have to have verbatim passages, but it does need to accomplish the same goals of those passages. books and films are entirely different mediums, and i have to remind myself of that sometimes. i’m hoping this will be a perks of being a wallflower situation and not a pjo one.
if you’d like to read the full interview and learn a little about polo (cool dude btw), here’s the article.
