Request: Liam with “I swear it was an accident.” and “Well this is awkward...”
Pairing: Liam x Reader
A/N: Hi everyone! This Liam imagine was my absolute favorite to write. It was actually inspired by a mini imagine that Rose wrote for me before we started this blog. I really hope you guys like it. Let me know what you think, and don’t forget that requests are open! So don’t forget to send us any requests you might have. We’re trying to steer away from the quote requests, but we will gladly take them. Rose is currently working on Wild Part 2, which should be posted in the next day or two. Thanks for being amazing! - Laura <3

You gripped the edge of the bleacher you were sitting on as the clock counted down. There were 5 minutes left in the lacrosse game, and Beacon Hills was down by two. You loved coming to the games. You got to cheer on your friends with Lydia as they, normally, dominated the field. Your eyes searched the field before finally landing on number 9. You and Liam had been close friends since he transferred to Beacon High. Something about you two had just clicked since day one. You had the same sense of humor, you helped him study for Biology. You two were inseparable. Lately, though, you’d been starting to see him in a different light. As he ran down the field, cradling the ball, you couldn’t help but jump up from your seat and cheer for him.
“If you’re trying to play it cool, it’s not working,” Lydia smirked. She was your best friend, and somehow always knew who you liked, sometimes even before you figured it out yourself.
You turned to stick your tongue out at her, squeezing your eyes shut. When you reopened them to see her reaction, she wasn’t looking at you, but at something behind you on the field, a look of terror plastered on her face.
“Y/N!” she screamed.

“Y/N! Y/N, come on, wake up,” you heard Liam’s concerned voice directly above you. You felt the grass of the field tickling your legs, and two strong arms cradling you. “I can’t believe I did this.”
“It wasn’t your fault, Liam. You had no idea that guy would hit you like that,” Scott tried to console him.
“I should have sensed it. I could have jumped away from him when he came to hit me. I could have stopped this,” Liam’s voice cracked. You felt him bury his head into the crook of your neck, his hair tickling your chin and nose as he shook his head. You could feel his muscles begin to tense as he became more angry with himself. “It’s all my fault.” He repeated over and over again as he began to rock back and forth with you in his arms.
“Liam, you need to calm down. You didn’t know that he was coming up from behind you, and you had no way of controlling the ball after it left your stick. It’s not your fault that it hit her. Try to calm down, alright?” Scott questioned. A long pause followed. You tried to open your eyes, tried to let them know that you were fine, but no matter how hard you tried, your eyes remained shut.
“No, Scott, I will not calm down! After the game I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend, but now I’d be lucky if she even agreed to speak to me again. I hurt her, Scott! Me! How could I have been so stupid?” You felt a warm liquid drip onto your arm, and you knew he had taken out his claws, trying not to change.
All of a sudden, an intense pain ran through your head and you let out a loud moan. The muscles in the arms holding you tightened even more as you squeezed your eyes shut and started to writhe in pain.
“Y/N! What’s happening?!” Liam desperately tried to help you, but to no avail. It was unbearable. You screamed as the pain intensified. “Scott, help! I don’t know what to do!”
“Yes, you do. Take her pain.”
Seconds later, you felt lips crash onto yours. Your eyes shot open in surprise. Liam’s jaw tightened and the veins in his cheeks turned black as the pain in your head lessened. After a few seconds, you could tell that he was struggling with the pain. You tried to pull back, but your muscles wouldn’t cooperate. You wanted him to stop. You didn’t want him to get hurt. A plan found its way into your head and you smirked slightly as you carried it out.
Liam shot back.
“You bit me?!” He said, shocked. You giggled.
“You were hurting yourself and I couldn’t pull away,” you reasoned.
“Alright, everybody, we’re good here, nothing to see,” Coach said from behind Liam, and you blushed realizing that the entire crowd and both teams were crowded around the two of you, watching. They slowly started to move away, walking to the bleachers.
“You didn’t have to bite me,” Liam cracked a small smile.
“I know, but it was payback.”
“For what?”
“I don’t know if you realized, but you kind of hit me in the head with a lacrosse ball and then kissed me without permission.” Liam’s eyes widened.
“How did you know it was me?” His brows furrowed in confusion, while you waited for him to figure it out. His eyes went wide. “You heard me talking to Scott?” You nodded. A look of worry flashed across his face. “What else did you hear?” You stared up into his eyes and bit your lip, thinking about how to tell him that you heard everything, that you know he liked you, and that you felt the exact same way. He stared back, waiting for your response.
Another idea flashed through your head, making you smile. You reached your hand up to the back of his sweaty neck and pulled him closer to you, making your lips connect in a tender kiss. When you finally pulled back, you saw him smile bigger than ever before. His arms shifted from where they had been supporting you and wrapped you in a hug. You breathed in his scent and sighed, knowing that this was exactly where you were meant to be.
“Excuse me, can we get on with our game?” an annoyed Coach shouted from across the field. You blushed as you pulled away from Liam.
“Do you think you can stand?” he asked, concernedly looking at your head.
“I think so.” You stood up, slightly wobbly, and began to make your way over to the bleachers. Liam came up from behind you, and swept you off your feet, making you giggle.
“Liam! I can walk perfectly fine!” You protested.
“Oh, I know, I just wanted to help my new girlfriend.” He set you on the bleacher where you had been sitting, placed a quick peck on your lips, and ran back out onto the field.
“Well.” You heard Lydia’s voice behind you, making you jump. “This is an interesting game,” she teased as she came to sit next to you. You felt your cheeks turn warm again as you watched your boyfriend take his place on the field.
“Lydia, have I ever mentioned how much I love lacrosse?”
