I'm watching a Cantinflas' movie with my grandma but now I'm getting bad vibes, bruh
This feels weird u know??? Like apaches don't fucking attack people??? Also Mexicans have a similar color to indigenous people!!! AND MORE IN THE FRONTERA!!!! What the fuck I'm I seeing??????
My eyes, my ears and brain are melting over thiss, this is not even funny????
Wow…it’s so weird to think that all of this started three years ago. I’ve always talked about writing being the outlet to all of the weird things going on in my head, and when I find things that inspire it, there’s no telling where it will go.
That’s the fun part!
Fannibals and friends, I hope this year hasn’t been too hard on you. The world is hurting, and I hope that words (either written by you or enjoyed by you) have been the comfort that you’ve needed. Reading and the worlds within books have always been my escape, the thing that saw me through difficult times. We ourselves can be made into dragons with the right turn of phrase.
I know that it’s been a long, long time since I’ve posted anything. In reality, that’s what’s always held me back from ever trying to get serious with my writing. Mental illness likes to give inspiration with an ebb and flow that sometimes can be brutal when all you want to do is write. This year has been especially difficult. Perfect 2020 bullshit: trying to post my Patreon Anniversary post on my patreon page isn’t working because the site is down. Hah. I will keep trying. My poor Patrons deserve better than me I swear, lmao.
I was surprised when, out of the blue, there was a sudden surge of people reading my old works! I saw comments and new follows and was a little confused because I can be pretty out of touch sometimes. Then I saw Netflix snapped up Hannibal, and man, there could be good things coming for the fandom. With that, I say, “Welcome!” Thank you guys so much for the kind messages, and I’m so thankful and glad that you liked my stories. Those words truly mean more to a writer than many will ever know.
Some of you may have wandered over and read an update on my Patreon that said I was stepping back from writing in the Hannibal fandom. Honestly, life seems to only get busier. For as much fun as I’ve had writing these worlds and au’s, those of you that are still here from the Tumblr-purging may recall that I’ve always just written what inspires me. Really getting to know people in the fandom, meeting so many wonderful creators and kind people from all over the world that had a passion for the very same things I did really fueled that, too! I have had as much fun building my original worlds and au’s as I’ve had writing in the Hannibal universe. Melding them was awesome.
Now, though, I’m more inspired to place my own characters there. Some stories have debuted my OC’s as side characters, and when some of y’all commented that you really enjoyed them, it really gave me hope for what that means for my future works.
I don’t know what that means for me here on Tumblr. A lot of my amazing mutuals have left because a lot of their work suddenly was banned from this site (although I still get porn bots, so...whatever.) I’m definitely still a fannibal and am waiting for a Season 4. I didn’t want to just leave this as a phantom, un-updated webpage, either though. I’m slowly working to correct that.
For now, though, I want to work on the writing that I’d loved to have published one day! Please don’t feel pressure, but if you wanted to support me working on that dream, I’m currently outlining/working on revising the pay tiers to reflect the change of what it is I’m posting there. This next year, I really want to write like my life depends on it. (:
Regardless, I don’t think I’ll delete this Tumblr, but I’m not very active on it. I have some really fun fandom stuff on it, and maybe if something else grabs me as violently as other fandom things have, I’ll come back. I’m going to respond to these anons, but I’m not sure how old they are. If yours was one that has gone long ignored, I apologize immensely.
If you’d like to follow me on any social media, just sent a DM! I have deactivated Facebook, but I am active on Instagram and wildly sporadic on Discord.
So, thank you--you guys have been so supportive, and I’ve honestly never had so much fun in a fandom before! Happy anniversary, and I hope there will be many more. The best is yet to come. I have hope.
Okay, so for those that have been around from the beginning-ish (Idk, maybe halfway through my time in fandom, maybe more, maybe less?) then you know that I used to have so, SO much more time for writing than I do now (obvs otherwise you’d see way, way more updates).
And while I am still chipping away at finishing Ill Intentions (I won’t leave anything not finished, promise) I hit this bout of writer’s block where it just...is...like...hitting a brick wall, literally.
So, I was reading, trying to see if maybe the works of another could jostle something loose. You go for walks, you do random writer’s prompts just to stretch the brain a bit, you try and engage with people socially because maybe they’ll use a turn of phrase that so profoundly resonates with a character lurking in your head, ect.
Anyway, I found myself going back over some of my first fics in the fandom, reminiscing and remembering the good times when I didn’t have writer’s block, and I just realized:
The Fault in My Code almost has 50,000 hits.
I try not to care too much about the hits/kudos/comments because realistically, I write this for myself just as much as I love sharing it with such a wonderful fandom, but that really just slapped me in the face, guys. I don’t know if it’s the same person every day clicking the link and reading a chapter at random, or if it’s those of you that loved it so much the first time that you keep going back, or if people are still finding the fic, but wow.
I am just so humbled and shell-shocked at the support, patience, and kindness from this fandom! You guys have been so welcoming, friendly, and supportive from the moment I first was posting/wondering if I should watch Hannibal to the moment I finally felt my writing gears start turning and I posted Magnum Opus. I feel like I’ve grown so, so much in my writing, and the fandom only gets bigger and bigger with time!
Hell, the fact that I can even say ‘Magnum Opus’ or ‘The Fault in My Code’ and some of y’all read those names and know the fic I’m talking about just floors me.
It really, really just floors me.
Anyway, long story short I will have the Climactic Chapter 20 of Ill Intentions posted early this coming week! Looking back and seeing just how much you guys have supported some of my hair-brained, wily shit in these fics gives me a much needed boost of inspiration/confidence to boot. :)
Okay, for anyone looking for music to just...get their writing juices flowing, PLAY THE UNDERTALE SOUNDTRACK!
I am just feeling all....ALL of the feels. It's great. There are so many song options that I feel like it really puts you in the position to have a little bit of everything. Writing an action scene? Writing a sad scene? Writing a funny scene? Boom. Undertale.
I got an e-mail from Patreon today that said that today was ‘Thank Your Patron’ Day, so I wanted to give a genuine, warm THANK YOU to my patrons!
These guys have not only decided that my writing was somehow good enough to want to back, but they’ve stuck around through it all --even with work being as it is for me, they still believe in what I do! This, honestly, does more for an artist than anything else; to see that people that don’t even know me believe in the words that I string together is what fuels me, what tells me that even on harder days that I am working towards someday having my own book on the shelves. <3
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you to these amazing people:
On that note, I will have an update to The Unquiet Grave this afternoon! My patrons have been sitting on it for a few days now, so I’ll post it on break. :)
Hey guys, I've been sick since Saturday with a cold that settled into bronchitis, so sorry about late posting.
I tried to go into work yesterday, and when my boss saw me she goes, "Oh, you...don't look good. I was going to ask you to come in tomorrow, but...don't. In fact, go home early today."
Doesn't make for good writing, but I will have something soon! Thank you for your understanding. :)
