a burning city, a home for oppressed eldians torn apart. it was a sea of fire and destruction brought on by their ( eren’s ) hands. that weight was not lost on her as she stood ready to fight. ash and blood cling to like a second skin. she hates it.  “  section commander.  “   she called out, body angled easily as it hangs from the string of her gear. a simple twitch of her finger and she’s pulled upward onto to the roof top near him. a titan prowling near the edge, a cat like creature with claws bared.

they don’t realize it, but eren’s mind is working. connecting the dots carefully to what could break open the war hammer. beast like eyes gleaming in the direction of the two, but she easily mistakes it for something else.   @libartes​  !!

     𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 𝐁𝐔𝐙𝐙𝐄𝐒 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐄  [...]  vision heavy  /  𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 — skirting around the edge of consciousness. when she breaks through into awareness it’s with the stark realization of pain, blooming aside her middle  /  muddled red on white and growing darker. it sinks into shock, the cold press of steel in her belly ; a whiz of wires long since embedded into flesh and it triumphs briefly as she meets the ground below her.  [  𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵. 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘭𝘭 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘳.  ]  spoken through a haze, some dizzying port of clarification for the poor soul whose trigger finger was too eager. the firm press of his hands against her body is grounding, one to keep her from slipping any further ; and though the glare of ire aimed at him is venomous, ( 𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘴. 𝙜𝙤𝙙 𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘴… )  she knows if he stops she’ll slip away faster than help can reach her. a hand lays atop his, clawing into the battle worn skin as she holds on and sputters out her words through tight clenched teeth.

final moments play in your mind and it’s not like some might think. it’s not like watching a movie. it’s not sitting by, watching events unfold and merely engaging from a comfortable distance. no, you are in the thick of it. heart pounds against chest. feel your own blood upon skin. feel the heat against you. but it doesn’t slow you down. you REFUSE to be beaten. D E A T H will be your only end. no injury, no amount of hurt will stop you. there is only one end to this. and what a way to go out. EXACTLY as you had always imagined it. fighting, dying for the cause. there was no other way. you had accepted it long ago. 

( but what you hadn’t intended for, had never imagined-- was how much it’d hurt to say goodbye to him. cover it with laughter. it’s always been so much easier to do. drawing attention to emotions was never a strong point. and really, what was the sense in tears? you knew what was going to happen. no point in wasting more time being sad about it. so you keep it locked inside. press down the hurt and take one last look at him before you are gone. ) 

small smile as you turn and think to yourself. in another life. maybe. --but, fuck, please, please let him find happiness in this one. let him know peace. 

when you come back to yourself, mere seconds have passed. a comment is made about whether or not you’re paying attention. familiar, short sound filling the air.

grit teeth and do your best to keep your composure. play the part well. act like the memories hadn’t swallowed you whole.  offer forced smile and nod.  “ sorry. right, on it. ” drop gaze, refuse to meet eyes before you disappear. and you hope like hell that you never see him again.   because you refuse to deal with that pain all over again.

                ‶  poli ,  my  darling . . .  ″  takes  her  hands  in  his -  closing  his  eyes  as  he  savored  the  feeling .  it  was  difficult  losing  someone  so  close  to  him ,  but  with  poli  here  his  past  loves  felt  like  a  distant  memory .

       “ the survey corps haven’t seen this many NEW RECRUITS since wall maria fell --- i’ve seen a few members of the MILITARY POLICE requesting a transfer. if their requests are accepted, they'll be a good fit to the regiment. ”

       his head tilts to the right, brow furrowed, fingers on his remaining hand pressed firm against the belts on his thigh.        ( the implications are obvious, surely --- a LESS THAN STRAIGHTFORWARD request on his part. in all likelihood, nile will oblige the loss of two or three of his people but the chance IS there that he won't. )
