so I think I might've mentioned it in the original post but it's long buried under everything else lmao BUT I'm a firm believer that reader would have to be almost as unhinged as Rafe, if not a lil worse, because as much as I love Rafe having healthy relationships, sometimes they're both as crazy and dangerous as each other and that's okay lmaaoooo
maybe it's such a rocky/unstable relationship that they're on the verge of splitting (again) when the possibility of Nassau comes around. Someone has to keep an eye on the gold, right? with Ward out of the picture, that only leaves Rafe.
But R isn't going to let him go so willingly, despite him protesting that it probably won't be safe and she's better off not coming with him. They're so hot and cold with one another and whilst Rafe is - somewhat - okay with making R stay in Kildare, she can't bare to be left behind.
So she baby-traps him as soon as possible. She's jumping him every chance she gets in hopes that it works and at first, he's none the wiser, not complaining about the sex or the frequency. Until he catches a glimpse of what he thinks is a negative pregnancy test in the bathroom waste basket. Then he starts to suspect, but the relationship is so tumultuous and there's so much involved in transporting the gold to the Bahamas that he doesn't think much more about it.
Then she comes to him with a positive test. He doesn't remember her mentioning that she was stopping her birth control and they'd never been particularly careful. Now he has no choice but to bring her to the Bahamas whilst watching this even more dysfunctional branch to his family tree grow.
But the more things settle between them, the reality of becoming parents and watching R's bump grow with each passing day spent in that massive house in Nassau has become more and more of a focus. Perhaps it even makes their relationship somewhat stable/better than it's ever been?? But they have nine months to figure out how to be loving and caring with one another to allow their baby to grow up loved and nurtured...
