My god the utter decadence of realizing that I can access my entire library's ebook catalog, at any hour of any day, directly from my phone. I can be lying in bed at 1 AM and suddenly I have a new book as easily as clicking on a fanfic. If I don't like it I can backspace out as easily as backspacing out of a fanfic. There's zero investment cost. It's just right there. Who else is doing it like her.

My problem with “Through the Looking-Glass Ruins”

And it’s a very minor thing, not a big deal, but to me it’s such an obvious plot hole that could have been easily fixed:

Why didn’t Luz and/or Amity go to Malphas first thing and say “Hey, my friend here is looking for this book, it’s in the Forbidden Stacks, could you retrieve it for us so she can research it for her problem?”

And if Malphas said “No way, dude”, then the story can continue its merry way. But for crying out loud, that is how libraries work.

libraries are Awesome because you get to look like shit and walk around in your wool socks for 10 hours and leave your stuff ALL over the place while you go look for a coffeeshop after you start crying all over your notes ✨🌻

Hmmm recovered library card does not work

Unsure if because they know I moved or deactivate cards after a period of them not being used

Or if it perhaps has something to do with the several hundred dollars worth of fines on books I definitely returned all of which are labeled "issued in error." No fines currently due but perhaps there was some sort of issue where the block was not removed from my account after the error was fixed

if you ever feel stupid, don't worry. a man buying over 100 dollars worth of books genuinely asked me if it was more cost effective to buy books or borrow them from libraries.

I forgot what a real library felt like until I stumbled into this one. So still and quiet but full of stories bursting at the seams to be told. I could spend ages in here.

I went to the library to return some books and borrow two new ones, but came home with seven??
