After a very long wait, copies have arrived from Europe! Immutable: Designing History by Chris Lee Available at Draw Down Books
Oh my God. This stack is higher than I thought. I am still reading Magnus Chase. My lending period is almost over (I can extend it, though), which is wack. I finished HoO in 3 days, ToA in 5 days, and MCGA is taking me a month. I like them as much as the others and PJO, but it’s mostly because of my thesis. Most of the reading I do these days is for my thesis, which is why 4 of these books are from my university library. But oh boy, I do actually have to find time to read more, because I reserved some books before I started my thesis and now I have them. I gotta finish them.
The graphic novels Queer and Feminism have been here for 3 months or so, but that’s because the transgender library doesn’t have a lending period. I can keep them as long as I want, unless the trans group wants them back. That’s why they are my “lowest priority”, since unlike the others I don’t have to finish them before a certain date.
Fall Library Haul 🍁
Imagine this: you’re in the local library, minding your own business, when suddenly this tiny Asian gal walks past you with a stack of reservations, her head barely poking above the stack of thick books. She’s stumbling and she is concentrated on getting to the check out in one piece without toppling over.
I’m the tiny Asian gal.
As you can see I borrowed the entire Heroes of Olympus series. These books are chonky. I had them all in the right order, but the different sizes made it very wobbly and unbalanced. Some other reservations also came in. With other words, I checked out 8 books today and my arms were sore.
Catch me borrowing all of MIKA’s discography from the library. Which is a good thing, because even though No Place In Heaven is one of my favourite albums, I never heard the song Rio before, since it’s not on the Deluxe version I always listen on Spotify. Rio is a fucking bop. I also got Little Mix’s Confetti, since one of my mutuals keeps screaming at everyone to listen to it and it’s good.
Apart from BodypARTs, all books on this week’s stack are new. Oh boy! I’ve already started Homoseksualiteit in Nederland, because I am betting that that’s a tough book to get through, and I keep saying I’ll start the Dutch version of Darius the Great is Not Okay soon.
So. It's been a long time since I updated my library posts, but I have been making photos. I just... forgot to post them. I have borrowed books from my library, my uni library, and from random people.
Highlights are
I'm Glad My Mom Died
Hannekelief
Oorlogsgeheimen (a reread, although it's been years)
Small Beauty
I also really liked De waarheid zal me bevrijden. I actually spoke with the author of that book. I also appreciate Chin. Ind. Rest. Kookboek, since I also believe that Dutch-Chinese-Indonesian cuisine needs to be respected, instead of being cast away as a rip off from "real" Chinese cuisine.
Right now, my stack is fucking huge cause all my reservations arrived at the same time. I already finished the graphic novels. Now I am reading Dan Karaty's book (saw him on TV) and I am reading The Locked Tomb series.
Yes, the feminism graphic novel is still unread.
Current library pile, ignoring the ebooks i also borrow. In the middle of divine rivals right now and enjoying it so far.
