Kiel turned over the book in his hands, brightening up considerably as he flipped through the pages. Based off of the few choice words he managed to catch in his quick scanning, there were definitely some strange things to be gathered through reading this. “Gosh Frey, thank you so much!” Kiel beamed at her before blinking in realization. “Oh, right! Hang on a second,” he said quickly before dashing off, the book under his arm.
It only took a few seconds before he returned with a small box made of thin cardboard. The sweet smell of apple pie wafted around them. “Just made it today. Merry Christmas!”
Kiel's excitement being very much contagious, Frey found herself laughing gleefully as she watched him flip through the pages of her book.
"The part about the 'kasa-obake' is especially interesting to me. An umbrella that jumps around with a leg and an eye... Who even comes up with these things?" She shakes her head, chuckling. "Oh, but you're welcome, Kiel. It's the least I could do on Christmas.~"
Taking a step back, however, Frey watches in surprise as Kiel dashes off, only to come back with a sweet-smelling present of his own. She gingerly takes the box from Kiel's hands, and in an uncharacteristic fit of impatience, lifts the cover to reveal a large apple pie.
Now it's her turn to beam.
"Wow...! My favourite... thank you so much!" She exclaims, quickly closing the lid of the box to avoid temptation. (Temptation being eating the pie right here and now, because if she escaped right now she might just be able to eat it in private, save herself from the embarrassment of pigging out in front of her friend.)
Then, Frey laughs nervously, pushing her bangs out of her eyes. "Mm... But I think I better get going!" She walks slowly backwards, or at least as slowly as she possibly could. "Thank you again! I'll see you later, okay? Merry Christmas!"
With that she was gone, and a few moments later, so was the pie.
