âAt least we have died together, yes...?â
Source: Leon*Xiao Pai [2] Artist: Satsuki [ERARUD] Reprinted and translated with permission Translation requested by toyherb
â» Tripped and fallen down.
Xiao Pai: Dwuaaah! Iâm sorry! I dove into your unmentionables! Leon: Youâre not a klutz, youâre a lucky pervert⊠X: How is this in any way âluckyâ?! (Itâs a disaster however you look at it!)
*trip* *strip*
The innâs other guests: WhyâŠXiao-chan, whyâŠwhy canât you use your unique talent on Ms Lin Fa! L: Stop it, Xiao, Iâm starting to think youâre doing it on purpose. X: Nooo! Iâm not a pervert!
âMaster... Itâs not fair... I want... nipples too, I want all of them...â
âWe should cut them all off... nobody else can have them! Every last one, Iâll hack them off and boil into a soup..!â
ăăWe Werenât Born to Cryăă
â Iâ- Iâ!!! â
Still bewildered  Kaiji tried spelling out his thoughts but in the end he didnât get much out. The demure look wasnât exactly bad way to bounce his panicky anger off, sending Kaiji even deeper into his confusion. He couldnât just shout at someone talking softly like thatâŠÂ
In that state he couldnât do much but drop onto his knees his body going numb as the tears keep rolling down to his cheeks.Â
â Hm, I wonder, I wonderâŠ. â
â Perhaps you should try to pat his head? Must be a lot to take - this kind of thing, you should understand it as well hm? Or are you not feeling lost? â
The man attempts articulation, eloquence slipping away like the sweat from his forehead. Naturally, Xiao Pai relies on the elderly woman once more for translation and advice.
âAh... I see.â She nods affirmatively. Such a simple answer -- this woman really was kind, she thought. Much kinder than the mess that was following her around.
âIt is much fine, I do feel lost, but feeling lost together gives a sense that we have been found, hm?â Answering the woman but also looking towards the man as if trying to comfort him as well, she steps forward.
âMy name is Xiao Pai. Things will be alright, so it seems there is no need to cry, yes?âÂ
Boldly but with gentleness she reaches towards the lionâs wild mullet-mane with ease, administering a soft pat or three, or four. A smile to go with that pat -- totally free of charge.
âRight. It will all be okay.â Of course, she wasnât sure of that, but these simple actions and being in good company would definitely help.
âMaster.. Arenât you ashamed... having someone so ugly as I beside you...â
âMmm...? But I see no ugliness!â
â...?â
   â.......â
â...L-Let us try cute hairclips, yes?â
ăăWe Werenât Born to Cryăă
â Master, master⊠â
There was Lucifer poking at the pitiful creature curled into a ball. A moment ago the said creature had been walking around stupefied, trying to run from the weird voice speaking inside his head and the next thing he knew was the granny appearing out of nowhere.Â
Kaiji wasnât crying but he was certainly about to. Hands hugging his knees, chin resting over them he sat there staring at nothing. He thought nothing would feel worse than freeloading at Sakazakiâs by now⊠After meeting Miyoshi and Maeda again something had lit up inside him, finally he got out from the hell that was apathy he had lulled himself intoâŠÂ
And then this happened. Itâs a mess inside his head.
â Master are you listeningâŠ. â
And what the hell was up with this hag?! She kept calling him master for one - that was totally creepy. With all the exhaustingly intense emotions getting better of him it was hard to be sitting about. He bounced up lashing out a loud exclamation against the old womanâs face.
â ARE YOU THE ONE WHO GOT ME HERE?! â
â No master, thatâs negativeâŠ. You should listen to what others try tell you young manâ â
â THE HELL IS THIS ABOUT THEN?!! Â â
Elderly woman sighed turning his head at other direction now with an apologetic look on her face. Explanation would have to be left for other time - or perhaps she could pass that baton for someone else.Â
â Master, Iâve been trying to tell you⊠We have company. Perhaps youâd listen to them betterâŠ. â
â What do you think, stranger? Care to help me with this creature eh? â
Kaijiâs face now turned too the mullet whipping in the wind. If it werenât for the tears dwelling in his eyes it might have been rather fierce glare.
What a scene, straight off of the wooden floors of a stage and into reality.Â
Reality -- it was a bitter taste to call this that, wasnât it. Xiao Pai still was grasping at metaphorical straws to answer all of the questions of being here, why she was here, who was this sudden entity slinking around in her shadow. It seemed shy, not willing to talk immediately, so sheâd been allowing it to skulk behind her as she walked.
And as she walked she would encounter this scene that contrasted her situation quite strongly -- and yet, similarities could still be found. A confused a wild-haired man sprawled in his frustration next to a spiritual entity that seemed close to him, yet a stranger.
Sheâs drawn to the scene inexplicably, welcomed by the old womanâs question and beckon for help.
Well, Xiao Pai couldnât refuse a cry for help -- even with a voice whispering she might just make it worse.
â...Hello.â A bit weak, considering her uncertainty of the situation, but she smiles nonetheless.
âYes, okay, how may I be able to help?â She steps forward, looking between the two bodies. She gives a wave.

âY-yeah, Iâm sure, donât like â donât look at me like that!â Finding himself on the defensive, Doug tripped over his own words â words that werenât even untrue, at that. âWhatâs with the third degree, anyway, did someone tell you I did? Was it Dylas? Damn, that son of a ââ He huffed, opting not to complete his own expletive.
âNo-- Ah, no, Dylas said nothing!â He was so quick to assume Dylasâ involvement, she almost gets whip-lash.Â
âAhhhgh... Some customers have complained, and I am not sure what to do...?â She glances almost pleadingly, as if hoping Doug would have some magic solution.Â
"Doug.. It seems I must come to administer to you a warning, peeing in the baths is of prohibited behavior..."
âWait seriously, it â I mean! Geez, of course I know that! D-donât say it too loud, people are gonna think I pee in the baths or something â which I donât! I donât pee in the baths!!â
   "...Are you sure?â
A stare so blank, so empty, so honestly curious, the only thing one would find staring into these eyes is their sinful reflection, slowly roasting by the oncoming, unblinking pressure of truth.
Rosetta turns to the girl who greeted her as she stopped by. She curls her lips into a friendly smile, happy to see a friendly girl in a town completely foreign to her.
âYou could say Iâm just looking around,â Rosetta tilts her head to the side. âbut I donât know my way around this town. Would you mind helping me out?â
âOh!â The potential chance to be of greater service flutters Xiaoâs heart a moment.
âYes, yes! I would be very glad to. Are you looking for something in specificular? If it is a place to say, my Mama and I own an inn...â
Hey, Xiao-Pai! How have things been at the inn? Any of your guests mention seeing any flowers you can't get around here? I want to expand the selection in my shop.
âFlowers you canât find here? HmmâŠâ
âAh! It seems a customer once was mentioning a rafflesia, is it one you donât already sell?â
sheâs a lot of fun to draw, yes? â«
âOkay, today I will work hard!â
Silently but unproductively willing her hands to stop sweating, Xiao Pai sets herself up for the ultimate challenge. 10 Plates, 1 Girl and the risky battle of practice and inhibition balancing on a precarious peak of chance.
Atop her head rests the porcelain, and the fight is on.
