Hi! I, uh, I was wondering if you could help me. Lately I've been unable to draw traditionally, as if I was having an artblock, yet when drawing digitally I don't have the same problem. Have something like that ever happened to you? And if yeah, how did you got rid of it? Thanks in advance!
I’ll be honest with ya, I actually don’t draw traditionally very good. Haha.
Like, traditional drawing and digital are very different and digital provides a much better eraser than traditional, lol. It’s very useful for when I mess up, which is a looooot.
I think one of the reasons as to why I don’t do as well traditionally is because I’m constantly fixing and adjusting my sketch since I usually do 2-3 sketches before even doing the lineart. Traditionally, it’s just harder. Along with that, I actually just don’t draw traditionally. Popping open my laptop is actually just more convenient than digging out one of my sketchbooks, and I actually don’t often have ideas for sketchbook drawings which means that I’m usually just doodling whatever I can without really creating anything detailed.
Sooooooooo, TL;DR: Yeah, I get that same problem mostly because it’s not the medium I specialize in. Even though digital and traditional art may seem similar to do, it really isn’t because you’re working with different tools.
If I were you, I’d just doodle whatever comes to mind no matter how simple or detailed. Eventually, your brain will click with something. Also, search up examples and look at other artwork, If there’s something to ever inspire me to draw and try new things, it’s looking at tutorials and other people’s work!
Hope this helps in some way!
