The Lido - Closed for business. An old diner style restaurant on 10th street in Calgary, just north of Kensington, a road that used to go straight to Bowness before the Memorial Drive Freeway was developed in the 40′s. The lido existed for more than seventy years, and it was a part of the fabric of the unique neighbourhood of Kensington. The building was demolished to make way for condos and store fronts along this popular road, with the outside sign salvaged to be included on the side of the new building. The Kensington neighborhood in Calgary is changing, and like 17th avenue or 4th street in the SW part of the city, the unique features of these neighbourhoods is what brings developers, but those features are rarely reconstructed in an affordable or authentic manner.
