Walking along the beach just before evening with everything obscured by mist right as you begin to realize it’s about to rain and realize that this is the exact ambiance of the opening scene of a novel you haven’t yet written, so you switch from your podcast to the song you most associate with said unwritten novel and stand, knee deep in sea water and not caring about being soaked, listening to the soft twanging of acoustic guitar and thinking about the words you want to write, is a GREAT feeling just btw

overly lengthy work rant under the cut sorry

One of the students I mentor sends me an email every morning the day I’m supposed to meet with him to be like “we meet at 4:30 right?” (responding to an email I send out to all the students telling them that I meet with them that week) which is like... fine whatever but objectively unnecessary because we meet at the same time in the same place on the same day every other week, and he’s logged into an easily accessible system where all this information is not only available to him but ALSO sends him an email reminder of his appointment time the day of

so this morning he emails me “chole do we meet at 4:30 today” and I’m busy so I don’t respond until an hour beforehand which I figure is fine because it’s a nice confirmation but he has *waves at all the information above*. and he doesnt show up and I’m like fine whatever and mark him absent (which does factor into their grade for the class so I feel bad but I try to be lenient if they have a reason they didn’t show but this student is also really specifically rude and condescending and has made me reschedule like 3 times this quarter already and told me he doesnt need the meetings - which he does bc he’s almost definitely going to fail - and also like... show up to your meetings)

and then just now he emails me saying that he didnt see the email and can we reschedule actually as if somehow he was RELYING on this information from me as if he didn’t literally already know the time and mention it in his email. and then 10 minutes after sending that sends me “Hi Chole if you saw the email, please responds. Thanks” because clearly the fact that I did not wip out my phone to respond to him during my doctor’s appointment was SUCH a strain on his life

so i send: 

Dear [Redacted]

I'm sorry but we meet consistently at the same time every other week. It has been this way both this quarter and last quarter, the system sends you automatic emails with this information every week, I send an email at the start of every week, and there's no reason that the time would have changed, or that you shouldn't have known. I don't mind reconfirming things with you but the information has been both readily available and consistent the entire quarter and I can't reschedule this meeting with you.

which was like.... idk maybe Too Much but I really tried to be as cordial as possible but still felt guilty anyway so I sent a follow up telling him he could send his final essay to me if he wanted and I could give him feedback on it (so I basically volunteered to work for free so... RIP)

Hi everyone! So I meant to do this awhile ago, but a few months ago I got to 5k followers and wanted to do something to commemorate that and say thanks! Now that I have some time on my hands with spring break, I thought it would be fun to do moodboard requests!
