The Evil Within headcanon

 Shade/Spotlight/Light Lady isn’t a creation of Ruvik, but rather an unwilling creation of Kidman herself. Though Kidman remained suspicious of Mobius, a part of her grew gratitude for what Mobious had done for her (something that is shown, or rather heard,  in a flashback) and was just starting to built some trust towards them, as it was necessary for her work.

 Shade is the part of Kidman that is grateful and loyal to Mobius, all she wishes to do is to complete the mission and move on, and also end the part of her that has doubts and can still think for herself when the chance presents itself. 

 As Juli’s distrust grew and Mobious ignored her warnings about their plains for Leslie being bound to backfire horrendously, Shade grew weaker and weaker, this would be why she found Shade curled up and crying on the floor in The Consequence, and why she was able to beat her so easily when she could finally fight back.
