Impression of a lightsphere in the hereafter - Jozef Rulof
The local mall (Shops at Don Mills) has installed this ‘Light Sphere’ that you can walk through. It’s really pretty. The tree in the center is really spectacular too.

Light Painting Final
Taken with a shutter speed of 30s and aperture of f/20. For my light painting shot I decided to do a light sphere in the woods, and light up some of the surrounding objects as well. In order to create the light sphere, I had prepared in advance, taking a string of fairy lights and taping some of them together, leaving about two or so feet to be able to swing it. I then covered the remaining lights along the swinging length with gaffer tape so there would be no light leaks from them. Once I had chosen the location for the shot and set up my tripod and camera, I got my “assistant” to stand in position with the fairy lights and swing them round in a circle, turning himself on the spot as he did so, thereby forming the sphere. At the same time, I went in with a torch and painted the tree to the left with light, and because it actually had some white paint on the trunk from some previous event, this looked quite interesting under the light. Unfortunately, the light from the torch didn’t show up as brightly as I expected/hoped it would, so even though I painted some of the grass at the base of the trunk it hasn’t really shown up well, nor have the upper branches of the tree. I tried to get this shot done during the “blue hour”, just after sunset, however the light faded really quickly and it was a race against time to get the shot before it got totally dark. Whilst I did get a few in while it was lighter, due to trial and error with different torches and trying to get the sphere right, I only just managed to get this shot before the light completely disappeared, so I lost all the detail of the other trees and grass in the area, with the exception of the tree at top right which is silhouetted nicely against the deep blue of the sky. I still think it’s an alright shot considering it was basically a first attempt.
