Jack U - To U (Ramzoid Remix) Listening to a remix of a song before the original sometimes spoils the evolution of the song, but this is simply not true for this track. This remix adds an additional layer of grit and deep texture, punchy basslines and excellently placed orchestrated fills. You might just find yourself involuntarily moving to this one. RAMZOID give this once simple and innocent track a grown up attitude, that just hypnotises you to place it on repeat.
Don’t hurt me but I haven’t listened to SonReal’s #ForTheTown EP yet, but when I heard visuals began dropping for the project I knew I had to look. His visuals in the past have been absolutely nuts and well... this isn’t any different.
Things kick off with ‘Shits Epic II’ where we see SonReal keep up his hilarious yet slightly creepy Napoleon Dynamite impression (with a hint of smile creeping through). SR is accompanied by a quartet of pretty impressive dancers as they pop & lock around it. For my first time hearing Shits Epic II... it bangs. The beat is powerful with a pulsating bassline thats elevated with some frantic energy coming from SR.
My enjoyment though is interrupted as a hand comes out of a screen, Free The Town comes on and well, shit hits the fan. The video utilises some frankly brilliant comedic timing, SR does his thing but its the direction, framing and creative use of storytelling that will have you bumping ‘For The Town’ on the regular.
Well done SonReal, you’ve got this music game on lock.
I realise that ‘Marauding in Paradise’ was released a good two weeks ago, but its’ that good that I have to bring it up. Canadian emcee, singer, artist Jazz Cartier has been on the blog game for a good few years now, yet before releasing his first single off MIP he deleted all previous music, as if readying himself for his reincarnation.
MIP is a 16 track deep, masterpiece of a mixtape that not only shows Jazz’ incredible diversity but his ability to craft some truly remarkable music. From the BANGER that we have in ‘New Religion’ (that you’ll be bumping 24/7) to the storytelling intricacies of ‘Rose Quartz’ to the retrospective ‘See You In Hell’ its all here... and in spades. What most impressed me is the quality of beats Jazz’ managed to get himself to play with, the transitions between songs like ‘Secrets Safe / Local Celebrity’ are down right ridiculous.
Kendrick might have taken the spotlight off Jazz last month, but in my opinion this deserves just as much shine.

Introducing nu-wave rnb maestro Gallant. The young artist has been lurking in the shadows for a good year now and his latest release ‘Talking in your sleep’ might well take him into the stratosphere. Thanks to an infectious, plucky instrumental that has a jovial synth working on a gnarly bassline, Gallant is able to flex his vocals and pleasure our ears. The falsettos’ on this are absolutely nuts, while the storytelling though far from innovative clearly shows he knows how to construct a great, summer record.
