clouds: what do you daydream about?
She daydreams about another life, one where she’s free to do as she pleases and isn’t forced to listen to Mary Lou’s horrible lectures and reasoning. Modesty doesn’t remember a lot about her biological family but from the little she doe she remembers her parents and siblings as loving and home was a safe and warm environment. She daydreams about how it’d be if she had stayed with her family and what if they had more money? Then she and her siblings could still learn together, play together, and usually in these daydreams Credence is there too.
And sometimes, Modesty daydreams about magic, the witchcraft that Mary Lou constantly condemns. She imagines being able to fly on a broom, cast a few spells, spells that’d make the hurt more bearable, make life more entertaining, more happy, more hopeful.
She daydreams about a life where she doesn’t have to worry about one wrong word leading her to have welts on her palms and back.
