It was like a… like a ghost.
~ as a random note I did notify my giveaway winners and when I get home today I’ll be working on that as well as getting back to replies… If people want to keep threads if not. I should do a starter call since I’ve been so absent of late. I've been on my Michael Scofield a lot recently.
*reminder*
just because i’m very slow with replies doesn’t mean i don’t care about our plot !!!
theamericanjewitch: // Tina
“We can find you another congregation to go to. There isn’t only one in the entire tri-state area.” She said fondly, understanding his fear and concern. The last thing that Tina would ever happen would be to let Mary Lou Barebones anywhere near this boy and his sisters ever again. That was not an option to even be considered or contemplated in the slightest. “I’ll ask my Rabbi if he knows of any decent Churches, all of the religious leaders tend to be friends. A shocker for most close-minded people.”
Holding his hand in hers the Auror smiled warmly, she didn’t want to overwhelm the poor boy. All of this had to be quite a whirlwind on its own, and it would take time to get him settled in and comfortable. “Well I make no promises, Queenie always wanted a younger brother. So odds are she probably already has stuff she made that you can wear. Pretty sure they’ll likely even fit you… Goodness there’s so much to tell you and teach you… how about we head on home?”
♙ – It was a nice offer but, one that was unnecessary. Over the years as devout as Credence appeared to be he had begun to grow disillusioned with the entire idea of religion. Mary Lou’s constant degradation had taken a toll on him. How could any god allow for something like that to go on? Sure some would argue that you were never given more than you could handle but, Credence knew that he was on the verge of breaking. He could feel it down in his soul and that feeling alone was disenchanting enough. ❝ That’s not... Really Miss Tina that’s not necessary. You don’t have to go through all the trouble of finding a church when I’m not... I’m not even sure that I want to go to one anymore. ❞ Or step foot near one again.
The warmth that seeped through him when the auror reached out and took his hand was a completely new sensation. Credence had grown so accustomed to the mean touches of ma that a kind hand was overwhelming yet welcome. ❝ Teach me? What do you have to teach me? ❞ The young man wasn’t sure that he could be taught much of anything. He’d always been taught that he was rather daft and that learning was something that he would never excel in. Although the word ‘ home ‘ caused him to pause. He’d never thought of a place as ‘ home. ‘ Sure he lived with Mary Lou-- under her roof but, it never felt like home. Certainly no place that he belonged. Nodding his head Credence cleared his throat hoping that his voice would sound stronger than he felt. That it wouldn’t betray how that simple word brought emotions forth that he hadn’t felt in so long he could barely remember. ❝ That... that sounds... good. ❞
This is a small reminder that you are strong, capable, beautiful, and talented. And that I adore you so very much 💖
~ thank you so much for this. I totally don’t deserve it but, gosh it’s very much appreciated.

miistergraves: // Mr. Graves
Once they reached the park, Percival set his gaze on a bench a little ways in down the main path. It would be a suitable place to sit and take his weight off his leg for a bit. But it was also far enough in that he wouldn’t feel he was QUITTING and resting. The goal had been to come to the park for some fresh and air and that was what they were doing. He was used to bargaining with himself in that manner. One more file and then he would sleep, another training exercise and then he would take lunch. He’d been raised on DISCIPLINE and he supposed auror training had only enforced it. His grip on his cane might have tightened slightly at the young man’s ADMISSION, his own thoughts drifting towards his father for a moment before he banished them altogether. It was no use thinking about the man. He was upstate, entirely unaware of what his son had even been through. Not that he would have expected a visit even if the cover up was unearthed.
“I understand. But you can trust that I won’t do that.” Trust. That was laughable really. After what Grindelwald had done to the young man while wearing his face. It was a wonder that Credence could even stand to be NEAR him. He couldn’t even stand to look at his own reflection most days. It still repulsed him. The dark wizard had come to him wearing his own face more often than not. “Well, how about this?” They came up to the bench and Percival slowed, taking hold of one of the arms of it and lowering himself down to sit with a barely concealed sigh. Once seated, he extended his bad leg and looked back up to the young man. “If you upset or annoy me at any point. I’ll let you know.”
♙ – Thankfully the park wasn’t too crowded as of yet. Credence still didn’t do good in crowds. There was still that part of him that expected that he would be pushed aside, expected to move and make room for everyone else. That hadn’t happened in a LONG time yet every single time he found himself in the midst of a large gathering he could feel the quick uptick of his heart rate, the way his palms would start to sweat-- someone once said he was panicking but, Credence just thought that was a ‘ normal ‘ reaction. To him it was. The few people that the two had passed today seemed friendly enough but, really would anyone pick on a man that was clearly just getting over being injured? Some may but, with the gruffness of Mr. Graves’ appearance Credence figured that those select few probably thought better of it.
The bench that Graves chose was nice, in a good spot for shade. Credence wasn’t sure if he picked it because of that or the fact that it was one of the closer ones. Graves’ limp was becoming more pronounced the longer they walked and if the way he stretched said anything the man obviously needed a break. Truth was that Credence didn’t mind the idea of sitting down and enjoying the sun a little.
❝ I... ❞ He wasn’t sure how to answer that. Trust regardless of what happened to him at the hands of Gellert Grindelwald wasn’t something that Credence did easily. Yet somehow he knew that Mr. Graves wouldn’t hurt him. Of course he would NEVER voice that-- that would be TOO DIFFICULT for him. ❝ It’s not that I think you WOULD but... ❞ Thankfully, Percival began to speak and THAT was like a wave of cool relief washing over him. ❝ Yes, that... I think that’s a good idea. ❞ Although the mere thought of someone telling Credence just how annoying he is would be crushing-- at least it would save him from being an annoyance and he would appreciate the honesty. ❝ Thank you sir. ❞
ofmotherlyinstinct: // Athena
Athena hadn’t been in America long, but her father had kept a small home going in New York for years before Athena was born and she liked to visit it at least once a month if she could.
Seeing the young man jump her face softened and instantly felt worried about him.
“It’s alright; I’m not telling you off. Just a little worried that you’re out here in the cold.” Athena explained as her eyes drifted over him, seeing the leaflets she gave a small smile. “Why don’t I take those leaflets and you can come in and heat up for a while?”
♙ – It wasn’t often that anyone paid much mind to Credence. He was after all mostly invisible to E V E R Y O N E on the streets. Just some poor boy handing out leaflets for that fanatical woman that speaks out against witches. He’d heard the whispering because regardless of his act-- the one where he acted as though he didn’t hear what people said Credence did have rather good hearing. He knew what they said about him and for the most part it was true. Except that they didn’t know W H Y he handed out those flyers so loyally.
❝ B... but, where would you take them? Ma... well, she wouldn’t be happy if she found out that I didn’t pass out all of them. ❞ He attempted to hide the shiver that crept up his spine merely thinking about the consequences of what would happen. His lashings from the night before were barely healed over enough to comfortably wear the clothing he had on currently. Heat-- the thought of it made his bones ache and Credence almost crumbled before even getting an answer but, he couldn’t. Those leaflets, the scraps of paper that they were needed to be P R I O R I T Y.

~ I’m going to be on here later today. I’ve got a birthday party to go to this evening and I’ve been trying to tie up a few RL loose ends that just don’t want to cooperate but, things I think are finally starting to work out.

agirlingrey: // Alys
Alys couldn’t help but grin at the compliment, even though she wasn’t entirely certain if it was meant as a compliment. He was entirely wrong about other people’s perceptions of course. Wizards were generally more wary when it came to strange witches, but Muggle men didn’t exercise the same caution when it came to Muggle women — they were simply SILLY that way. She waved his concerns away with a RENEWED EAGERNESS, “Tosh. I am quite good at crying whenever I want to. And I can be quite convincing.”
“Now,” She carried on before he could interrupt her again. “You wait here. I will go up to the policeman and try to find out what I can. There might be weeping and swooning. I trust that you won’t hold it against me in the future. If things turn… SOUR, we make a run for it.”
♙ – Credence didn’t want to admit that he was fairly good at crying on demand as well. It had to do with years of dealing with the abuse that he had. More often than not he only had to think of all the times his mother had beaten him for no good reason and tears would fall whether out of FRUSTRATION or not. ❝ Does that mean that if you ever cry in front of me I should question whether you’re sincere? ❞ Most of the time the young man gave people the benefit of the doubt. After everything that happened he still wanted to see the good in people. Still wanted to know that everyone had a good side. It wasn’t always true but, that was what he wanted to see in everyone.
Shaking his head Credence couldn’t hold back the smile that tugged at the corner of his mouth. ❝ No-- I won’t hold it against you in the future but, that doesn’t mean that I won’t possibly bring it up simply to tease you. ❞ One thing that he’d learned is that he rather enjoyed laughing and if someone could take being teased then he was certain to at least make some attempt in doing so.
ofmotherlyinstinct: // ???
“Goodness me boy what are you doing standing out here?” Athena’s days always started early. Which is why she was surprised to see a young man standing in her garden. “How long have you been there?”
♙ – He had to get an early start. ‘They’re not going to hand themselves out.’ Mary Lou had chided as Credence slunk out the church door with his head down and shoulders hunched. It was cold, unseasonably cold and while he wasn’t dressed for the weather ma told him not to worry about it because it would warm up later. Well, it still hadn’t warmed up and Credence had been wandering the streets for hours only managing to hand out three of the thirty something leaflets that Mary Lou had forced into his battered hands that morning. It was a lost cause.
The voice caught him off guard and the young man nearly jumped out of his skin. ❝ Oh, ma’am I’m sorry forgive me I thought... ❞ The truth he hadn’t been thinking, mindless walking that’s what he was doing until he’d found some place that was just a little warmer. ❝ I didn’t realize that this was yours I’m sorry... It was incredibly stupid of me to not pay attention to where I was going. I’ll just be on my way. ❞ His eyes moved to the ground as he clung to the leaflets that he was still holding. ❝ I... I swear I haven’t been here long. No one saw me standing here if that’s what you’re worried about. Really I’m sorry. ❞
