Booked the studio out 1 week ago, took these snapshots in with me to try to re-create one of the group lighting set ups.
IDEAS
This is a lighting set up drawing of the idea of the outcome I am intending to create. The equipment I will need is:
2x Battery packs
2x lights
2x light stands
Sinc Lead
Light Metre
Snoot
Large Format Camera
I will give this idea a trial and will see on the improvements i can make.
- The light coming from the right hand side in a form of ascot will create a hard shadow on the left hand side. Any light on the left hand side will soften that hard shadow out and lesson the effect.
- Paintings are sometimes hard to re-act in reality as shadows and positions can not always be created to how the artist has created the image.

Friday 2nd January
I've got a few re-shoots for projects that need to be done and had somehow decided today would be the day to do these. Unfortunately for the shoots I had to do, I was a bit apprehensive about whether they would work or not and therefore didn't really want to do them. However after a while, when I found the shoots were working, this all changed and I was really happy with how they had gone!

Here is a portrait done with a single light. Since the light source was relatively large compared to her and it was not far, I was able to get the look I was after without the need of additional lights or bounce cards.
The strove was an Einstein from Paul Buff fitted with a 35″ octabox. I attached a grid to the Octa to direct and guide the light more precisely. That “on my opinion” makes the…
