This was not my first attempt at painting Light. I prepared a set of sketches last month, to let my Patreon members decide which should I do. The sketch they voted for was actually very different from this. It was more of an action pose, but I felt totally blocked with it and thus started over from scratch! In the end, I do love this piece now and have no regrets about the start over.

I kept thinking ‘Phantom!Lightning isn’t creepy enough, add more’ and I just kept adding and adding until Phantom!Lightning even made an appearance in my dreams. I literally stared at that image so long that it imprinted on me and followed me into my sleep one night.
