Hikari let out a sigh, of course she had been messing around, hadn’t she!

“Izumi-chan…” She ended up smiling after that, wrapping her own arms around the blonde and holding her close for a moment. “I know, between school and everything else we’ve been quite busy, it was about time we met again!”

After letting go of her, Hikari clasped her hands together. “What have you been up to? You really confused me, did you know that?” She never knew when a random Digimon could come up and delete her memory or something after all.

“Heh heeh~!” She placed both of her hands on her hips, smiling even wider letting the other one see her white and bright teeth. “Busy.” Confirmed. “Mou... School is getting even more difficult, sometimes I wonder if it’s harder to fight an evil angel digimon or to be a good student.” Izumi sighed while frowning slightly, then giggled one more time.

“Ne, Hikari-chan!” She spoke, her face was full of excitement. “Don’t you think it’s time for us to relax like in old times? We could call our friends a have a little reunion! Ahhh! I feel it’s been so long since we all were together! I know you agree with me, don’t you?!”

Visit

Kouichi had been worried. The last time he saw her, she had caught a fever. He wasn’t sure why, but he felt that it had something to do with their experience in the Dark Ocean. That only made him feel worse; if he hadn’t been so stupid to even consider joining Demon, then she wouldn’t have had any trouble with the Demon Lord. At least Hikari was now home and she would get better soon.

He decided to go visit her. It was the least he could do and he would be able to see if she was getting better. When he arrived, Tailmon opened the door and lead him to Hikari’s room. Apparently the Digimon was alone with her human partner. He silently entered the room after Tailmon.

“Hikari?”

Moral of the Fight

Hikari had been right. In a way.

He was too stubborn to admit it outright, but Hikari had a good point about fighting the other day. Kouji had uncharacteristically been caught up in the moment, and heralded the deletion of the sea demon digimon. She had a right to be upset that they - the legendary warriors who had fought - had completely disregarded any other strategy except for deletion.

Kouji had already formulated his own excuses though.

First of all, Hikari wasn't the one out there fighting. She never could understand the danger of losing her own life when she wasn't the one with the armor fighting those battles. Her digimon, her brother, and her friends protected her. Although Kouji hadn't been fighting that day, he knew what it was like personally to wield the weapon and defend his life against a monster.

Takuya, Kouichi, and Tomoki hadn't fought in such a long time too that strategies weren't an option. Sitting there waiting for something was only going to get them killed. They were all lucky in the first place that some of them had been able to defend and fight. Such a sudden ambush couldn't have been dealt with any other way than outright deleting the threat.

Besides, their scanners served a special purpose of purifying that kind of data. Then the information is rejuvenated into a new cycle - a better one. Humans didn't have that luxury, unless you believed in reincarnation, and Kouji wasn't willing to bet any kind of money on speculative after-life situations. They were in danger. They would have drowned. His brother could have been...

He's angry, but not solely at Hikari. He's also angry at himself that he had to sit on the sidelines. That he couldn't have fought for their lives as well. And angry that they couldn't have dealt with the situation in any other way.

But there was no more use dwelling on it. What was done was done and if Hikari had an issue, she could take it up with him any day. He would put her in her place - he wouldn't let her endanger any of them with unrealistic altruism. But from now on he was also going to be careful, because who knows what kind of danger they were facing?
