"The light of the body is the eye: therefore if your eye is single your whole body is full of light" Matthew 6:22 I paraphrased a bit and took out the "thine's" & "thou's" Biblical scripture has a bad rap among many progressive thinkers due to the dogmatic lens through which it has been passed down. And while that has not been my experience with the Bible, I totally get it. Many don't know that the first people who endeavored to translate and publish the bible so the masses could study it directly (rather than receive its teachings through clergy and hierarchy) were persecuted and killed. I wonder why? Maybe because it's a book of liberation and when you engage it directly with an open heart, its universal message received and applied in daily life makes you unenslavable - not only by despotic governments and the like, but more importantly by the greatest tyrant of all - the hellish monkey mind, naysayer-taskmaster-purveyor-of-limits extraordinaire. While I'm very much a work in progress, I can trace most, if not all, of the transformation towards freedom in my life back to these teachings. So I hope we don't throw the baby out with the bathwater and at some point the independent minded can restore the bible's tarnished reputation, making it more appealing and relevant as a go to resource of support and transformation. #scrioture #lightofthebody #singleeye #embodyouressence #ifiwasntayogateacheridbeapreacher
