They're designed to make it easier to keep hold of your corn, especially if you butter it, so you don't drop it! Personally I don't use corn holders much though I do own some. I've found jamming a chopstick in one end and just holding the other with my bare fingers helps abate the slippery problem while still letting me go goblin mode on my corn.

Also: If you wanna take your corn from amazing to HOW IS THIS SO GOOD once you butter it, hit it with some old bay seasoning and grated parmesean. Like, the pre-grated shaky cheese shit. It's next level I promise
