Okay, but what are the actual systematic economic and social privileges those of lesbian and gay sexual orientations have? I just can't seem to think of a single one.
Gee, how about the fact that there are gays and lesbians all over TV, and yet nobody on TV or movies will ever say "bisexual"? There are basically no canon bisexual characters in movies or TV, and the few that might be are never called that. Instead, they'll have characters that "don't like labels." So there's one: Bisexual erasure. Homosexuals get the spotlight, and shove us bisexuals off the stage completely.
How about the fact that bisexuals are slut shamed with the lie of being cheaters? How about the fact that bisexuals are told to "make up (their) mind," that we're "indecisive" or "not really on our (homosexuals') side"? Even though we were there at Stonewall and before. (Along with trans women, whose contribution is also ignored.) Homosexuals are always denying our right to join in the fight because you think we make you look bad. So there's another: homosexuals throw us under the bus for the sake of "respectability" politics. So socially, you get to piss all over us without any consequences.
How about the fact that homosexuals get all the attention? For instance, what percentage of the American people are even aware of the concept of bisexuality? I remember in high school, which was only 15 years ago, clarifying to someone that I wasn't gay, I was bisexual, and his response was "What, like a hermaphrodite?"
And economics? Seriously, there is more to privilege than economics.
Anybody else have anything to add, please do. I'm exhausted. One of the pitfalls of having chronic illness.
