Alright given the new year I wanted to put together a small list of target species for the year!
- Arkys alatus (recorded within 5km of my house this should be doable)
- Arkys enigma (far, far less likely but I’m located between two sightings, it’s a pipe dream. Unlikely to travel to sighting spots this year)
- Regent Honeyeater/Anthochaera phrygia (I will be seeing captive ones this year but this list is for wild sightings. I live in the range and may go to known locations but I’m not going to go crazy about trying to track down a critically endangered bird.)
- Any scalyfoot (Pygopus)
- Badge huntsman (Neosparassus)
- Australian Rhinoceros Beetle (Xylotrupes australicus)
- Peacock spider (any of the species that has that colouration - I see plenty of the common-in-houses Maratus species)
