People who are super pro-ship and post only pro-ship discourse but insist that it's antis who are obsessed with them is so funny, man it's time for introspection I think
literally answered a students email with "It's chill man, i just suck at email" i am a beacon of academic professionalism
Okay, okay, so I know you're currently mad about Pride and Prejudice, but hear me out - RenRuki Persuasion AU. In the original Jane Austen story, the aristocratic protag is compelled to break off her engagement to the bold and ambitious - but poor - sea captain she loves, because her awful family are horribly prejudiced. She spends seven years pining and grieving, but the sea captain suddenly returns! Rich and well-established from war! But does he still love her? Hmmm... (yes. he does.) 1/2
(2/2) Also I am the PacRim anon, lol. You did a banging job and I adored what you came up with.
I have no particular attachment to P&P-- I read it as a teen and recalled not liking it particularly, but then I really liked the Kiera Knightley version of the movie, and people are really into it, so I thought I would give it another go. I liked it very much, and I cannot emphasize enough that Byakuya is just Mr. Darcy whom someone has given swordfighting lessons and now has license to kill, gosh, what an awful idea.
A torrent of obscenity came out of my mouth when I got this ask, I want this so, so bad. It sounds perfect. I have not read Persuasion and now I am hot mad that I started Emma last night (my best idea so far has been Uryuu meddling in his friends’ love lives while Chad keeps coming over and telling him not to and eventually they kiss), because I absolutely would have read this one next if I had gotten this message first. I have been rolling around Regency AUs in my head for a week and believe me Renji-is-a-Ship-Captain has come up repeatedly, probably because I was really into Captain Blamey from Poldark (despite being somewhat problematique). God, I love a ship captain. Christ.
Here is a list of specific things I am looking for in this theoretical AU:
Chad dressed in sumptuous fabrics such as silk and velvet
Renji and Ichigo wearing tricorns. Possibly also boots and long coats.
Repressed feelings. So many repressed feelings.
Someone rich from London rents a country house and everyone in the village goes nuts trying to invite them over
Orihime and Rukia exchange letters in which someone’s secret motivations are revealed
The most insufferable Byakuya you’ve ever seen
Whist. Loo and quadrille are also acceptable
Dance cards
Sick burns couched in polite terms
L O N G I N G
Someone confessing feelings after having been rained upon
Maybe someone could gaze out over a cliff at the sea?
Unnecessary details about peoples’ incomes
Cameos by as many side characters as possible.
Once again, Anon, I can only assume you are some actual famous writer-type person who likes to drop God-tier ideas on my humble little blog from time-to-time, while maintaining anonymity. Thank you for gracing me with this, and I am so glad you liked the PacRim one, yet another AU which I wish I had the mental energy to write a 300k masterpiece on.
So tomorrow someone is finally coming to fix the ceiling damage in my room and afterwards I’m having the whole room repainted. Taking cues from the rug I’ve picked a few colors. Please excuse the clutter.
1) Spiced Potpourri
2) Pinecone Hill
3) Moroccan Ruby
4) English Channel
And here’s the rug pattern for reference. It’s a little tired looking but it’s a hand-me-down and I like it.
I’d love to have the fireplace stripped back to the natural wood, brick, and cast iron but I have to save up for that so for now it’s just going to get repainted white.
My initial choice was Spiced Potpourri but now I’m less sure. What do y’all think?

i feel like there’s a universe where i don’t have an anxiety disorder and the main difference in our lives is that they are a fantastic performer and perform all the time. and went to juilliard (or some music school) and performs for a living
