I'M SO SAD. I loved Elliot and MR's relationship so much and I feel like it's tainted now. I know MR isn't Edward but how is Elliot ever gonna be able to look at him the same way now that he remembers what his father did to him?? And I feel all icky about shipping them. It's also just sort of impossible to imagine now anyway? Like, I feel like MR never ever would have gone there with Elliot since he was always protecting him from the truth. IDK I JUST FEEL SAD AND WEIRD ABOUT THE WHOLE THING. :(
dude. DUDE. i know.
look this is going to sound insane but for some reason i thought shipping them was "safe" in a weird way?? because it was so beyond the pale and already p damn dark. so like i can just have a good time being gross in the corner here with my pseudo inc//t because it's so unrelated to canon; it's all just fun and games!! let's not think too deeply about the implications!! ....... and now this all is way too real and all eroticism has vanished and look, when i was joking about e//ib/t being canon this is NOT WHAT I MEANT OH GOD DEAR GOD IM SO SORRY
it really was a bold move on sams part and overall i am a fan but wow. it changes everything.
and like i still love mr robot as a character but he looks like edward! how am i supposed to deal with that! how will elliot! i just dont want mr robot to leave yet :(
anyways im sorry youre feeling gross; i dont think youre a bad person or anything for what that's worth.
much to think about.

Top 3 ships: I... am never quite sure if I legitimately ‘ship’?... James Acaster/Ed Gamble make it very difficult not to :D I cut my ficcing teeth on Rimmer/Lister. For a third... you know what, fuck it, Arlene Rimmer/Arnold Rimmer XD femdom selfcest ftw...
Last song: What, like, last song I listened to? Coincidentally enough (shuffle 4 lyfe) since I’m still in just-made-a-fanvid comedown, it was ‘I’m Scared’ by Brian May, which was the soundtrack to the previous fanvid I made, five years ago :P
Last movie: The last movie I watched was 'Batman vs Two-Face’ (the animated-camp-60s-reboot with the voices of the original actors), which I bought @toosicktopray for their birthday. Puns were acceptably terrible, a good time was had by all :)
Currently reading: 'Happy Fat’ by Sofie Hagen, purchased by @toosicktopray when we went to see her a few weeks ago. She’s v.g., book’s v.g., I’m very stoked that the up-and-coming generation of comedians shares my woke millennial values <3
Tagging people is hard! If you want to do the thing, do the thing :)
@likecharity i got everyone to come into my room and see if they could smell it (i could smell it wherever i was but worse in there) and no one could! i have a cold so i think maybe it’s something to do with that as it’s pretty much constant? i had to get everyone to reassure me there was no possibility of a carbon monoxide leak though. that’s interesting about migraines - i get them and i do get aura with vision and touch changes, i didn’t know it could affect smell too!

‘I consider her to be bi because of that earlier scene with Dom where she says "ah, the old pronoun game. I experimented with that for a bit." I mean it's pretty ambiguous, but I think it was sort of setting up that aspect of her character? It's not implied that she's manipulating Dom at that point, so when she later says she's into girls, I took it as the truth. *shrug*’
Hmm, I interpreted that as ‘I experimented with [girls] for a bit’ and generally when people say they experimented with the same sex for a bit, past tense, it means they were curious but would consider themselves straight now. However if she meant ‘I experimented with [the pronoun game] a bit’ (which actually does make more grammatical sense) then that definitely implies she is bi. I still feel uncomfortable assuming she is though. I wish the Mr Robot writers could be less damn ambiguous wrt the characters’ sexualities sometimes!
likecharity said: I agree with all of this. Ugh, I’ll be so fucking disappointed. In general I feel like I trust this show when it comes to these things (despite Shayla’s death) but after the last episode, and learning about these theories, I’m starting to feel like I shouldn’t, to avoid being let down? Ughhhhh
Me too. Even though Shayla’s death was handled pretty badly (I’m torn on this because I don’t necessarily think it shouldn’t have happened, but the way it was done was pretty horrifying and a classic example of fridging a female character to further a male character’s development) and there were other instances of brutal violence towards female characters (Tyrell’s murder of Sharon was....one of the most uncomfortable things to watch), I guess at least it felt like there was some sort of purpose and they were minor characters. In S2 my trust was restored because I think they did such a great job with the female characters. But if they start killing off main female characters when it seems unnecessary there’s not really any excuse. And yeah, I’m starting to wonder whether I should lower my expectations too. Mr Robot is my fave show and I have a lot of faith in it largely because I know Sam Esmail had already planned out the entire series run over many years before it started, which means writers avoid doing things just because they’ve run out of ideas etc. However, I have to remind myself that just because Sam has a plan doesn’t necessarily mean it will always be good or especially always be good in terms of its representation of minorities/oppressed groups. The only way I would possibly be okay with Dom or Darlene or, god forbid, both, dying is if it both made sense and more prominent female characters were introduced to replace them. Even then it’s iffy. I’ll probably go wherever this show takes me but it would still be deeply disappointing. (Sorry my responses about this are so long!)
likecharity what the fuck, this better not happen
I KNOW. Seems like there’s been a lot of foreshadowing with Darlene on the show, and official mr Robot pages are posting stuff like ‘Darlene’s in trouble with the FBI and Elliot’s shutting her out, where is there left for her to turn?’ or something to that effect which also sounds ominous. With Dom there’s less stuff but I’m still concerned. I get that realistically more of the main characters would be dead because they’re all in so much danger 24/7, but this is fiction and they are all so interesting and fascinating and I care about them all. Plus it would leave us with a male-heavy cast (a white male-heavy cast at that) which I do not want. One of the refreshing things about Mr Robot in S2 was the prevalence of prominent female characters and how well-developed they were. Shows similar to this are generally so entirely male-focused. And I felt there was a lot of understanding of women in these portrayals, I don’t think I ever got that feeling of ‘oh, a man wrote this’ which I often do when men are writing female characters. Plus I saw someone point out that the only character deaths that haven’t been up-close and horrific and brutal (whether we see the death or the aftermath) have been those of straight white men (Cisco and Elliot’s father) which irks me a little.
