@likelystudentdragon replied to your post: Random question because I feel like it....
I'm really interested for the source on how they meant for it to be openly canon, but censored it. I have a friend who doesn't see them that way and it's hard to convince him of it, but that might, or at least certainly would help..
ah, it turns out i was misremembering; either that, or i can’t find the link to the translation of the interview that i read. in apology, i’ll offer you these links that i hope will help convince your friend:
this interview with the script writer -- i’m assuming they mean naoki yamamoto -- indicates that there is no straight (or m/f) romance in zestiria, and that they want to focus on sorey & mikleo’s relationship.
this quote from hideo baba indicates that mikleo is sorey’s “one and only” (also one of mikleo’s titles)
not to mention this skit from tales of berseria confirms that a seraph telling someone their true name, outside of the context of a shepherd knowing their true name for the purpose of armatus, is a love confession; and sorey knew mikleo’s name long before he thought he might be the shepherd. there is literally no purpose for this skit to be in berseria, as there is no seraph that tells a shepherd their true name in other contexts; its only use is to confirm that sorey and mikleo are together.
apologies for the misinformation. but given everything here, i consider them to be canon rather than baiting.
