Last night, my younger brother walked up to me to announce that he finally listened to Hamlet.
His review was that, while not caring much for the politics of another country, he did like the themes and some of the characters. He particularly liked the first song.
It took me a moment trying to figure out how I missed a musical production of Hamlet when he started humming the intro of Hamilton...

just saw someone call batman’s “no kill rule” selfless & done for gotham, and then, in the same comment, proceeded to say jason wanting to kill was “righteously selfish.”
how do you misunderstand TWO characters?
batman refusing to kill is so crucial to his character because it IS selfish. if you look at the toher heroes he works with, they also avoid killing, but if it is absolutely necessary, THEY WILL. bruce will not. he IS however, willing to bend that rule to however it fits him. climbing on a tower of cars, making it unsteady, & letting it crush a man to death? fine. throwing a batarang at your son’s neck & leaving him in an exploding building? fine. leaving kgbeast to die? fine.
jason kills because he’s angry, yes, but also because he CAN. there’s no “i can’t turn back from this” for him, no “i’ve lost my soul!” because his trauma is different than bruce’s.
jason isn’t selfless but to pretend the no kill rule is anything but selfish is obscene. it’s one of the things that makes bruce so human.
"make sure to kiss your knuckles before you punch me in the face" is a lyric that I think might stick with me forever
