is deck more of a west coast word? that's probably what I would call it
huh, deck also feels very first floor to me!
svetik savishna by modest mussorgsky!!
couldn’t listen all the way through | not my thing | it’s okay | kinda catchy | ok i really like this | downloading immediately | already in my library
yes my boy modest trashman!! this is a very interesting little song, in the voice of a holy fool… interesting to hear a woman called ясный сокол (if that’s what’s going on, it’s hard to tell, naturally), even in this context, that’s such a masculine label… love those 1860s

dude which song
ok so in “dilaudid” he says “if we get our full threescore and ten/ we won’t pass this way again” which i always assumed was a reference to psalms 90:10 “the days of our years are threescore and ten...” but i saw on genius.com that he confirmed on twitter that he was actually referencing housman referencing the bible in “loveliest of trees” w/ the lines “now of my threescore years and ten / twenty will not come again”
so !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaaaa
top five musical moments in the great comet! top five Things About Summer
top five musical moments in the great comet
just…the entirety of “No One Else.” oh, you guys. a sweet wistful romantic ballad in F major scored for soprano voice, piano, and strings in a waltz signature? like. what else even EXISTS. what more do you WANT, you sick FREAKS
Princess Mary’s descending chromatic lines are so crunchy and melancholy and shrinking, and they give her relatively minor character so much color. it’s really lovely musical character work. thanks @Dave for my life.
Grace McLean’s shrieking high Es in “A Call To Pierre.” bone-chilling. please tear out my throat with your teeth.
the transition in “Dust and Ashes” from the vicious, outraged demands of “Is this how I die? / Was there ever any other way my life could be? / Is this how I die? / Such a storm of feelings inside of me!” to the almost childlike terror in “But then why am I screaming? / Why am I shaking?” GOOD MUSIC WRITING THANKS @DAVE FOR MY LIFE
VSEGO HOROSHEGO NA POSOSHOK POEKHALI VSEGO HOROSHEGO NA POSOSHOK POEKHALI VSEGO HOROSHEGO NA POSOSHOK POEKHALI VSEGO HOROSHEGO NA
runners-up: the near break to hysteria in the bridge of “Sonya Alone,” Natasha’s final verse in “In My House” where her “I love him” motif turns tragic, Amber Gray’s sexy smoky tone in “Charming,” I DON’T KNOW YOU’RE MEAN FOR ASKING THIS QUESTION
top five things about summer
HOT. i function best at temperatures upwards of 75°F, because i am still a reptile. i’m so alive right now, dear friends.
relatedly, being able to sit out and read in the park all afternoon in the warm sun. one of life’s simplest joys.
peak fruit season! there’s nothing better than having your pick of ALL the stone fruits, unless it’s ripe blackberries eaten directly off the bramble.
this is technically two things but there is really nothing on earth like either the smell of a summer night after the heat of the day has broken, or the smell of a summer morning when the sun’s just come up.
being able to wear sundresses. i’m cute :)
@likeniobe RIGHT, julia and sylvia deserve to be in a better play with less terrible men, tbh. and i’ve still got to read all the henry vis, henry viii, all’s well that ends well, the two noble kinsmen, king john, and the merry wives of windsor. i’m hoping i can still knock a couple more out before i get back to college in a week, but who knows whether that’ll actually happen.
what are your top 3 baroque rage arias please
ok but it’s more like off the top of my head the three things I’ll come up with first: Furie terribili, Barbaro traditor, and Crude furie
(Odio, furor, dispetto doesn’t qualify for baroque but damn does it fuck)

did you take a look inside the nourishing traditions cookbook? fascinated by what a politically incorrect recipe would be
i did not but i 100% should have, i was traumatized by seeing Terrifying Stuffed Jesus a minute before
