This is a brightly shining piece in my day. ☀️ I love the warmth of Amber Glass and we try to always have a few lovely pieces in our shop. For those of us in the Adelaide Hills it was fabulous to experience Blue Skies and Sunshine today. #likesunshine #amberglass #depressionglass #smallbowl #sweetsdish #vanitydish #goodasgold #1940s #vintage #vintagelover #vintagehome #vintageglamour #vintagelove #vintagestyle #vintageglass #vintageetsyshop #etsyvintage #etsyelite #etsylover #jessabellasonetsy #etsystyle #etsysuccess #etsysmallbussiness #etsyselleroninstagram #etsyvintage #etsyelite #etsysmallshop #etsysisters #jessabellas #theetsies #sistersshop https://www.instagram.com/p/B0F0wlkBsap/?igshid=7hdh8dtj0uac

HI MS. TARYSANE! hope you're feeling better ♥ i was wondering if there were any book series you'd rec?! my house is in the process of being re-furnished/painted and i've been running out of book titles to read in passing the time! any genre is OK -- thank you SO MUCH ;U;
Oh, man, books. I always feel like I'm recommending stuff everyone's read. Like, I like Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books, but if people haven't read them at this point it can't be for lack of seeing them on bookshelves? Anyway, let's see what shakes loose if I think about it for a few minutes.
Because the latest just came out, I definitely recommend Seanan McGuire's Toby Daye books. (Urban fantasy with Fae. I love Fae.) The first is Rosemary and Rue. The first book was her first book, so sometimes it feels a little shaky but stick with it because as soon as she gets her feet she takes off running and I really love the whole arc of the series so far. (Her zombie books written as Mira Grant get more attention, and I liked them--especially Feed--but I love the Toby books a thousand times more.)
I also follow and enjoy Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden Files, though I thought the last was rather weak. (I love Fae.) The first book is Storm Front.
Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan books, which I just devoured. The first one's Shards of Honor.
Kristin Cashore's series. It starts with Graceling. Usually gets filed with YA. Also in the usually-gets-filed-YA crowd, Garth Nix's Old Kingdom trilogy. It starts with Sabriel.
Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicle was really engrossing, but it's not finished yet and I had serious book depression when I got to the end of the second and there was no third. The Name of the Wind is the first.
I'm just starting the second, but so far I'm enjoying Scott Lynch's Gentlemen Bastards books? The first is The Lies of Locke Lamora. (Though may I say, much as I like the guys, I'd kill for a major female character? Maybe one will show up.)
I haven't read the latest, but Richard Kadrey's Sandman Slim was surprising and gritty and really sucked me in.
When I'm stressed and want something light and fluffy, I usually turn to British chick lit/romance. I like Jill Mansell and Katie Fforde especially. (They're pretty formulaic, but for whatever reason it's a formula that just makes me happy.)
Stephen R. Donaldson's Mirror of Her Dreams and A Man Rides Through. (It's a two-volume series? They're old. I read most of the major fantasy of the 80s/early 90s but it was so long ago I can't really think what to recommend, since I read them when I was very young.)
Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books. The Eyre Affair is the first.
I like pretty much everything by Robin McKinley, Patricia A. McKillip, Sarah Addison Allen, Alice Hoffman, Jane Austen, Paul Auster, Marisa de los Santos, Kristin Harmel, Neil Gaiman...um. Am I tapped out? Maybe. I feel like I'm overlooking massive portions of my library, but since most of my books are half a world away in storage I can't check.
And I am feeling much better, thank you! <3
breathes heavily IF ANYONE ELSE HASN'T ALREADY ASKED THIS: BEFORE THE BEGINNING, if poss!!!!! (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧ TYYYYYYyyy ♥
(Okay so the actual beginning of my fic corresponds with the finale, so I’ll write you a bit of what happened in the time skip! :) ) There’s almost no point in going to school. The remaining teachers rotate between filling for Chemistry and English until replacements are found; Lydia is already weeks ahead in the former and still oddly vengeful against the latter. She will not finish Heart of Darkness. Not ever. Lydia does not need the taint of Jennifer Blake on yet another thing, another place, another moment in her life – she will not allow it.
