Hipstamatic Living Room Session with Like Swimming
On March 12th we invited Like Swimming to join us in a living room in downtown Austin to share some tunes with us. We filmed it, and created an awesome video. Check out the stripped down version of their hit, "Go Buffalo."
Basement TV

This Week's Featured Artists
Fickle Friends Explode Blog-o-sphere with "SWIM"
The new-wave 80's-influenced Brighton, UK based five-piece known as Fickle Friends has been blowing up the blogosphere, and is definitely a group to keep on your radar in 2014. Their debut hit "SWIM", uploaded to the band's Soundcloud 12 days ago, is already at 104k plays! This track emits carefree positive feelings with up-beat 80's groves and infectious, sugary female vocals. Leading up their debut single, 2013 saw Fickle Friends win two competitions back to back. The first was the Music Gateway that awarded them Best Live Act, which lead to a recording session at Abbey Road Studio. The second was a public vote to open forJamie Oliver and Alex James’ The Big Feastival. Jamie Oliver, impressed with what he heard, paid for them to spend a week recording at Giant Wafer Studios in Wales.
"Go Buffalo" with Like Swimming
After 7 years of writing, playing, producing and touring Europe and the US in their former band, You Say France & I Whistle, the three band members, Ida, Petter and Claes, decided to form Like Swimming. The energetic beats and melodic harmonies from their former band is still there, but now they come with soothing water, sparkling oceans and cleansing rivers. In the beginning of 2013 the group released their first two tracks, "God Knows" and "Dance Anyway I Please", recorded in a small cabin outside of Norrtälje. At the end of the summer 2013 the Swedish trio began to gain momentum and USA Today premiered their third single "Go Buffalo". The band is currently booked for their first USA tour visiting both Culture Collide in Los Angeles and CMJ in New York, and has appeared on the cover of Billboard Magazine in Sweden.
Craig Mack’s Historical "Flava in Ya Ear"
An above-average rapper blessed with a bit of luck and connections as well as talent,Craig Mack practically made Puff Daddy's Bad Boy label with a remix of his 1994 hit "Flava in Ya Ear." Based in Brentwood, Long Island, Mack cut his first single while still a teenager, though nothing came of it. He was working as a go-fer for hometown heroes EPMD when he hooked up with Sean "Puffy" Combs, who offered him a spot on a Mary J. Blige remix in 1992. Impressed, Combs offered him a contract on his Bad Boy label. What really sold the LP, however, was a platinum remix of the top single "Flava in Ya Ear." Featuring a parade of East Coast talent — the Notorious B.I.G., Rampage, LL Cool J, and Busta Rhymes — it ranked as one of the first posse tracks to go overground in a big way; a Top 10 pop hit, and #1 on the rap and dance charts.

La La Land
A few weeks ago I spent a week in Los Angeles recording, performing and writing. The best of all things music! xx I flew in Sunday night and started recording the first song for my brand new album on Monday morning!!!! Talk about exciting! None of you have heard this song and I cannot wait to share it when the album finally comes out spring of 2014. How in the world am I going to wait that long???
Monday night I rehearsed with some amazing musicians who performed with me Tuesday night at Rockwell Table & Stage. Barrett Yeretsian, my producer, cowriter, and friend on drums, Clint Feddersen on bass guitar and Nathan Beale on guitar. They sounded amazing!!! I am so grateful to be spoiled by such amazing musicians. Not sure how I got so lucky.
Soundcheck @ Rockwell
The show at Rockwell on Tuesday night was awesome! So many amazing California friends came out to support the show. So humbling! I played some of the new material for the first time, and got some great feedback on the new songs. Have I mentioned that I am SUPER excited about recording my next album??? Wow.

I cannot say thank you enough to the UNBELIEVABLY talented Joe Lester for coming out to Rockwell and photographing the show! He’s been so supportive since the first time I started coming to LA and I am forever grateful.

It was an honor to share the stage with JD Hinton that night. “The Last of the Great Romantics.” He’s a fantastic performer and songwriter, and an even better person. I love when that happens.
I was surprised and overwhelmed to find this beautiful bouquet that was sent to my room as a good luck gift from my new friend Darcy! So thoughtful.
Wednesday, I had the opportunity to visit Media Base, Premier Radio Networks for an acoustic performance. Honestly, some of the most genuine music lovers I’ve ever met! What a blessing it was to be able to share my heart with them.
Wednesday night I headed to The Hotel Café, where DigSin band Like Swimming from Sweden was performing their first stateside show! Amazing. The music is awesome, they’re adorable on stage and are incredibly sweet people. Check them out and thank me later. ;)
Thursday was my catch up day! I got together with a bunch of California friends, and even some who don’t live in California but just happened to be there. My sweet friend Sara Kauss and I ended up walking the black carpet for the LA Haunted Hayride. We had a blast giggling our way through the haunted house and hayride. (Don’t tell Sara but I was actually pretty scared). Haha
The gorgeous Connie Lim and I got to catch up, swap stories and have some girl time Thursday night as she so graciously let me crash on her sofa. Most of you probably remember her from our summer tour together two years ago (has it really been that long????). She’s got an album coming out soon so keep your eyes peeled.
I definitely try to continue feeding my heart and soul with words of faith, hope and encouragement on and off the road. This one really touched me during my time in Los Angeles and I spent a lot of time reflecting on it while I was there. Thanks Joyce Meyer!
Last day in LA and I made it count by writing three brand new songs with one of my favorite co-writers! I’m so excited to share them with you and to watch them develop in the studio. Giddy with excitement just thinking about it!
Krysta Youngs is one of the coolest people I know. She and her dog Zena hosted me on my last night in Hollywood, and we had a chance to catch up on recent events. You never know what’s going to happen when you’re with Krysta, and this time gnomes were involved…
I cannot finish this blog without thanking my AMAZING manager, Todd Hensley and publisher, Jay Frank! I am so unbelievably grateful that God made our paths cross. They are always there for me and have been for the last 4 years. On the days when I don’t feel like such a diamond in the rough, when I’m crabby & exhausted, or obnoxiously excited, they take those calls. I’m so lucky to work with such a passionate team and to call them both friends. I am one lucky singer/songwriter!
Thanks so much for reading my blog. Next post will be about my adventures in NYC and Philly. BIG BIG HUGS!
