introducing our new foster hot mess, lil floof 🥺❤️ we initially took this girl in after seeing her at her colony, super sick & not improving. most of the cats there were tnr’d and we snagged two more to get sterilized while a foster of ours hopped on trapping this girlie. she was so cautious but used to being touched that she was able to get her in a carrier & bring her over!

nearly every unspayed cat this time of year is pregnant, so while we couldn’t hear any babies, we did have a suspicion. she has just been way too sick (with a heart arrhythmia amongst other things) to prioritize a spay. as she finished her first round of antibiotics, this stubborn URI was just not improving, so we took her to the vet this week to see if we could get her assessed and on something stronger.

vet confirmed she is almost full term in her pregnancy, meaning we prioritize how much better she can get in the next several days to get her the healthiest she can be for a high-risk gravid spay (ie. spay abort). surgery is scheduled for sunday! right now, it is a race against the clock. if she has these kittens, there is a high chance she or the babies may not survive. if they are born healthy, we will have to nurse them ourselves and separate them from her to ensure they don’t get what illness she’s dealing with.

our hope is that we can get her spayed before she goes into labor & the vets will be extremely cautious as she goes under anesthesia. they will also do a chest x-ray while she’s under to see if anything else is going on.

all of this was extremely sudden and after everything we’ve already paid for her care, the surgery would be approximately $2100! we have raised a little over $700 so far & would like to get that $1400 covered! we have a gofundme currently running alongside lots of other ways to donate like venmo & cashapp & paypal!````
