How do you think the magic system works in Sof? I spoilered myself that there is an island for wizards and a community of witches but do you think it is passed genetically or is it something that everyone, given teaching and a wand, would be able to learn?

Also. When they do magic, do you think that they use their own magic(that they have a reserve in the body, and it would be tiring to cast) or they just commans the magic/world around them to change?

Oh, I love this question! Gonna put the main contents of the answer under the cut since it's a bit long. There's spoilers for Season 4, but nothing major imo.

Okay, so...the Mystic Isles are a realm in the clouds where all magic comes from. It's home to all kinds of magical creatures like unicorns, mermaids and fairies, all with their own islands. Now, among all these islands, an island for sorcerers is not actually explicitly mentioned or shown. Some people theorise that there is one because at one point you can see some wizards hanging out in the clouds in the Mystic Isles, I think? Personally I don't think there is an island for them, and they're actually just regular humans. Those sorcerers hanging out in the Mystic Isles...well, its not like it's impossible to go there. Just difficult.

Witches, though, they do have an island (the Isle of Witches). Which suggests that witches are not human, but instead a type of magical being like fairies. There you go, main distinction between StF witches and wizards! Yay!

However, wizards do still have a connection to the Mystic Isles, which is that they get the special crystals for their wands and staffs and amulets from there! It's mentioned in the special, The Mystic Isles. The crystals are grown on the Isle of Crystals by crystalmasters.

Do you think it is passed genetically or is it something that everyone, given teaching and a wand, would be able to learn?

For witches, who are magical beings apparently, I think their magic is genetic. But for wizards…show canon suggests that magic is something any human can do if they're taught to do it. I mean, there are sorcery lessons in Royal Prep for the princes and princesses, and it's not like royal blood is anything special either since Sofia herself is shown to cast spells. All that matters is that you need a wand. And lessons. Both of which are only ever seen provided to would-be wizards who go to Hexley Hall, or to young royals at Royal Prep.

Now mostly you see characters using wands, but then there are one or two instances where you see characters doing magic without a wand. Like in Through the Looking-Back Glass, where Cedric can be seen casting a spell with his bare hands (I'm not giving more details on that situation because…spoilers!). Now I think someone had a theory that when you have whole generations of wizards passing down their skills to their children who then also grow up to be wizards and so on, eventually you get wizards who are able to perform magic without a wand at times. So…there's a genetic component there as well, I suppose? Or Cedric is just special.

Hmmm…judging by certain scenes, especially the one in the finale (where Cedric performs a great spell and then is shown to be tired to the point of nearly falling to the ground), I think you do need to expend your own energy to cast spells…but I think, given what I know of the crystals...I don't think humans themselves contain magic, but they judt use energy to be able to use the magic crystals. Like maybe crystals require an energy source (the caster) to work.

A nice watercolour set. A pile of paintings. Some detective novels (she had a phase). Probably also some other novels she didn't like as much. Maybe a little trinket as a memorial for a dead plant (only one). A diary.

Thoughts on thunderstorms? (•^•)

They are very cool!! All that lightning n stuff...I like looking out the window at it. And then when the power goes out and the wind is rattling all the doors and windows, it feels like you're in a ghost story.

The best thunderstorms of course have heavy rain. I don't like when it's just lightning and wind and no rain. Like what's the point then. The rain is the good stuff. I love rain.

Oh. But back to the lightning. Something I love is when you'll see a bright flash of lightning and then the thunder part is delayed so you just sit in anticipation for a few seconds...and it's always rewarded by loud-ass thunder. Thrilling experience. 10/10.
