Brand new project from Anacostia Community Museum Archives features a young Lillian Evans (1890-1967) in the driver’s seat in her scrapbook. 

Better known in later life as opera singer Madame Evanti--and the first African American to perform with a major European opera company--Lillian Evans’s 1907-1911 scrapbook documents life as a young African American woman growing up in segregated Washington, D.C. As you transcribe, you’ll discover more about the social and leisure lives of African Americans in historic Washington in the early twentieth century.

why are they your faves?

Dean Keller; He’s an asshole— i’m sure everyone agrees with me on that; but he’s also that asshole you’d not only tell your friends negatively about, but you’d waste your time staying up all night just thinking about how he pisses you off and turns you on at the same time. Am i right, or am i right?

Lillian Evans; This girl’s a complete sweetheart. I love her striking personality and how big of a heart she has. She’s always out there and talking to people. I love her to bits.

Farah Rosner; She’s gorgeous and she has quite a personality as well. I love how one minute she’s fierce but the next she’s incredibly lovely.

Stiles Rowan & Carter Thorn; I’ve already elaborated my love for Stiles and i’m placing Carter next to him because i think they’re both incredible and quite alike. They’re very easy to talk to and so laid-back; and hey, they’re both band mates and friends. Their friendship’s very strong and these two are just adorable.
