I think Aiden’s father (I don’t remember his name if it was told) is the boss of the Origami Organization, as they both have the same skin and hair color, as well as how the hair looks, messy, wavy, maybe curly. He could’ve tested on people closer to him, such as Aiden and Ben. 

That would also explain some of Aiden and Ben's backstory a bit. 

1.) Aiden doesn’t remember the name or place of the last town he lived in, and Ben doesn’t show any signs of knowing either as he doesn’t tell anyone on his phone. 

2.) Aiden already had eyebags before anyone went to Savannah. Plus Ben continuously put his head down, maybe out of depression or maybe he is tired too. 

3.) Aiden literally smiles just as the Phantoms, and Ben seems very scared of them when they first start dreaming, more than Logan. 

4.) Aiden picks up a chemical bottle and sprays a Phantom, which hurts it, is it a coincidence?

5.) Ben knows how to patch someone up when injured, that isn’t something people just learn. Maybe he learned from himself because of his past with fighting, but maybe those two have been in Phantoms Place. 

6.) While Aiden was explaining Ben’s past with fighting, he said that his depression turned into rage (anger), which also happened to others, Ashlyn, Taylor, Tyler, Logan, and even Aiden, in later chapters when fighting. Yes that is a normal thing but not so much when mostly all of them are usually calm. Just as Ben was before.

Or the boss of the Origami Organization could be Mr. Tomas (I fr don’t know how to spell names), the characters’ main teacher. 

1.) He has Origami of a Swan on his desk, which is the symbol of the Organization. 

2.) He was the one to make the trip to Savannah, at the beginning of the school year, it might’ve been planned to make those kids go there then into the Haunted Place (im forgetting the real name) 

3.) He noticed Ashlyn’s shadow having shorter hair the day after it happened, but her parents couldn’t see it. 

5.) The name; Mr. Tomas was mentioned by the boss himself, in quotes no less.
