Thaisha's a great character. I just really like the way she's played.

I don't know how to explain this thought except that Aabria deserves all the kudos for deliberately making a character that is Not Weird about motherhood. She has kids, and she loves them, and she also has other things to do. Really makes me think about the way women characters above a certain age are often depicted as *so* wrapped up in their relationship to motherhood.

Fascinating little parallel between the Sundered Houses being primed to suspect each other and the Shapers having dead man's switches for if they get killed by one of the others. something something power structures mimic each other. something something suspecting someone implies a belief that they have the power and self-determination to do that thing.

I think it's interesting that Bolaire pretty consistently refers to his bodies as "I". Especially notable in "I'm going to need to die." He doesn't do it all the time, sometimes it's 'the body', and I haven't been paying enough attention to figure out when each one happens, but especially in 22 I noticed that there was a lot of "I". I haven't decided what this means yet but I do think it's interesting.

I think the conflict inherent in Tyranny is that she can either try to be good, and feel constantly self-loathing about her demonic instincts and general existence. Or she can not care about doing good, and give into her instincts, and feel confident and powerful all the time. The way things have been set up with the CC and everything, I think it's going to be hard for her to do good in a way that isn't motivated by self-hatred.
