Article "Time to end to live export ban madness"
A well written article by Rob Gillam, Pastoralists & Graziers Association of WA, highlighting not only the importance of the Live Export Industry to Australia, but highlighting the negative impact Australia's withdrawal from the Trade will have on animal welfare in the Industry World wide http://www.beefcentral.com/p/news/article/2266 As Rob Gilliam states “But what these professional activists fail to realise is that by banning the live export trade they will be destroying the lives of thousands of farming families, the future of hundred of regional and rural communities, and increasing the levels of animal cruelty in many developing nations. In the past week Saudi Arabia and Turkey has opened their market to live cattle exports from Brazil, and Qatar has opened its market to live sheep exports from Canada. Australia is replaceable, and not only will our livestock be replaced but so will our standards of animal welfare that we have established in these markets. It is the live export industry, not the animal rights activists that are ensuring that existing routine slaughter practices in many importing countries are brought up to the world’s best practice expected by the Australian people”. Please think of the big picture before your support Professional Animal Rights Activist Groups who are only thinking of their agenda and not willing to work with Government and Industry for the greater good of Live Export Animals World Wide. Why are these groups unwilling....maybe because to get the job done properly will involve rolling up ones sleeves, putting in the long hours, working hard and using one's brain and common-sense. Just saying.
