“allez!” starts the race,my blade searches, darting, dancing through the air.i keep up the pace,flourishing under judging stares.

back and forth, the pull of the bout.sweat drips down my facei extend and lunge with a shout!the scoring box blares.

 “halt!” the ref calls. “bout, victory right!”

overwhelmed with joy, i fall to my kneeslike warm hugs, i’m embraced in cheersmy heart fills with warmth from all that i hearit’s my passion, what makes me unique

 the emotions fencing evokes,i can’t begin to describe.i live for the congratulations,and the thrill of the ride.

this vicious sportfor me, has an appeal of some sortcomforts me with bruises and gasheswelcomes with shouts of victory and clashesto whom I turn to vent my anger,without fear of placing others in danger.

who would I be without blades by my side?without a mask on my face?i’d be without joy and surprise.because here with fencing, I’ve found my place.
