“..and that concludes my report on what manner of fauna we might predicatively find on the lower levels. Obviously, acquiring more of the keystones would speed things up a great deal... but I doubt we would get any further intel on those from asking the disappearing door nicely.”
Cinna thumbed the edge of the paper in his hand thoughtfully, glancing from its contents to Dia. It was always just a LITTLE weird being official about this sort of thing, but it was hard to say who might be passing the door and when. Not that that... ENTIRELY mattered, but being immersed in the illusion of his research into the keystones as being solely a historical piece he’d been asked to look into helped him forget that the Abyss was out there and very much real.
Which, sometimes, he found himself very much needing in recent days. Not that he ever anticipated he COULD hide away in the library forever, but, well...
At least his old friend seemed a bit more keen on this sort of thing than he’d ever been. Which, in hindsight, was sort of amusing - with her enthusiasm for the Abyss, it was as though they’d swapped roles, almost. Even if her interest was troubling and would probably inevitably get her killed. His brow creased a bit at the thought. If she went down alone...
No, no, this was the kind of thinking he was trying to prevent. Shuffling the papers in his hand again, he internally prodded himself to find something else to fuss over... which, honestly, wasn’t particularly hard, considering who he was speaking to.
“...Also, I overheard you’ve been working yourself to the bone again.”
He frowned, tilting his head a bit. Why was it that the more important someone was - either by role or by sentiment - they managed to become of greater concern?
“You’ve been... taking breaks, yes?”
