I'm not sure if this is the sort of question you answer, but why do you think LSH's reaction would be if she saw one of her children? anger? kindness? ambivalence? thanks!
I answer all kinds of questions, no worries. I talked a bit about Lady Stoneheart’s reaction to her children before, but that post was mostly about their reactions to her. So for her to them – I think she would be initially pleased, if perhaps confused by how much they’ve changed. (Inasmuch as Stoneheart can remember her past, her focus would be Catelyn’s memories right before she died, “all our sweet babes”, as the babies her children once were, not the people they’ve become since Winterfell.) If she has the ability to consider her own self, I think her next reaction would be shame, that her child has to see her as this revenant she’s become, not the soft-skinned sweet-voiced mother she was before she died. If her child reacted in fear or terror on recognizing her (and they would), the shame would only increase, and she would probably withdraw from them for a while. I can imagine the child saying that “we can go home now, together”, and Stoneheart croaking back that “we can never go home”.
Though of course Stoneheart would do her best to keep her recovered child safe, perhaps to the point where they’re stifled by her protection. But still, after that, things would depend on how the child reacts to the actions of the Brotherhood. If they have to watch the execution of innocents or those barely connected to the Red Wedding (for example, Hyle Hunt, a Reachman who made the mistake of serving the Iron Throne? of serving his liege lord Randyll Tarly who executes BWB when he can find them? Podrick Payne, a 13-year-old who only squired for Tyrion Lannister?), and their reaction is of further horror, or protests, Stoneheart won’t react well. She would demand obedience, for them to desire revenge as much as she does, and anything outside this thin rule would not be welcome. Eventually she might decide that this changed person is not her real child, but some trick, and things would degrade from there. (See her belief that Brienne had betrayed her.)
Basically, it would be really really sad. Desperately so. We can only hope that it’ll be only one Stark child who sees what their mother has become, not more than one. And it’ll probably be Arya who is that one child, whose themes of justice and vengeance and mercy will come to a climax when she sends her mother to her final rest at last… but my heart will break no matter what, I know it. :(
