we know this guy, this funky little fella, right?
and we all remember him saying ["They told me NEVER NEVER EVER to disengage myself from my Management Rail. Or I would DIE. But we're out of options here. So... get ready to catch me, alright, on the off chance that I'm not dead the moment I pop off this thing."] right?
now, before we go any deeper into this, lets think about the position Wheatley is WITH his Management Rail
because, what does management rail imply? Personally, to me I see it as being both a show of his faint amount of power, and how he is CHAINED to it with his lack of freedom. The power he has over the humans in stasis isn't much, it's there and it's a responsibility, so it's some form of power he has. He has a shocking lack of control considering his position overseeing all remaining humans in stasis, but he has some amount of responsibility and power nonetheless. Now, whenever he properly introduces himself and takes control of the hotel room, I don't know how to describe it, but whenever he takes proper control of that, he makes his way to get to his goal of finding the portal gun, 'hacking' into the test chambers and demolishing a LOT of things in the process. He has a tendency to cover his reckless actions done primarily out of [presumably] lack of knowledge, or lack of patience to do things in a 'proper' way, as being more intelligently guided than they really are, 'hacking' the wall? yeah, nice way to save face there buddy, it's BASHED into! there's no hiding that you're trying to hide how your capabilities align with a moron or a brute by masking as someone more intellectually capable than you currently are, buddy.
but anyhow, I'm getting sidetracked
SO!
we know how Wheatley does in positions of power, or, management
and we know how he does have said management rail, right?
now, back to the position of dying when detached
this advice, likely WAS given honestly! because without outside help, he WOULD eventually die without being attached to it!
and hell! he DID die whenever he was crushed via glados's claws
[or at least his body was just, crushed, it aligns up slightly so that's all that matters]
if he is ever detached from it, he'd die, right?
well, we don't see him with much screentime on a management rail past that initial point, right??
right?
right???
oh yes, I'm ABSOLUTELY arguing that the Glados chassis is simply just a higher form of the management rail
I mean, it's fairly in the name! really!
Management
he's the boss! after all
and fairly, the rail thing? I don't have the main argument for the rail, but come on, the glados chassis and the management rail arm both look very similar
But anyhow! back to the point I was making prior
so, Wheatley controlling the management rail/hotel room
1. breaks a LOT of stuff
2. claims he's in control and he knows what he's doing
3. gets what he wants [partially]
4. disengages with said rail
5. dies [gets crushed]
right?
yeah?
now lets see what happens to him when he gets up into higher management!
1. Breaks a LOT of stuff [core meltdown]
2. claims he's in control!
3. gets what he wants! [partially, via part five of his plan, and being let go! I mean he asked for it, might not fully have wanted it but hey I'm counting it]
4. disengages from his rail
5. dies [or is sentenced to death, by shooting off into space!]
So, fairly! the scientists were right! if he is to disengage from his management rail, he WILL die!
I might not have expressed this the best, but, yknow
