Tonight I ran D&D for the first time and I FORGOT HOW MUCH I LOVE GMING... I decorated the kitchen and put on dramatic music and people really had fun!!
It was a pre-written adventure but this just makes me want to like. Write my own huge campaign LMAO... the balancing would be difficult and I’d actually have to like. Fill a folder with maps and shit. FATE requires fewer props but I’d have to remind myself of it and I’d still have to figure out balancing BUT STILL.
I stopped going to my nearest tabletops club bc it was super far away and the games were kind of crowded and Not My Style, I don’t think I realised how much I missed playing haha;;;;
Honestly I love?? Playing PCs too?? And for low-spoons weeks that’s super good and probably more sustainable. (I still want to play characters that are like. Beyond Lv 5 lmao. because I’m a baby) (Honestly?? bring back my tiefling bard named mellifluous trifles, everyone loved her and she definitely didn’t get eaten by a bugbear after fucking insulting him for 12 consecutive rounds) (And now I’m just thinking about how much fun PC-playing is dangit I wanna play a fuckin D&D campaign) BUT I LOVE GMING AND I MUST NEVER FORGET THAT

Terrible Creatures made of greed and vanity sitting limbs everywhere on a sofa beside a big pile of marionettes chewing out this season’s catwalk catastrophes (the reception’s bad in Wonderland but they make do)

What a gift!” Taako and Merle like responsibility-shedding manchildren is so perfect but also like.... do you think that Taako wishes he could forget what happened.... what do you think he and Merle would consider a gift to forget?? Also Magnus relying on his boys to get his revenge like.... the Trust....

These Boys.... like we acknowledge how Good and Sweet Magnus is but can we take a moment to appreciate Merle constantly looking after his boys like... in previous arcs when he casts protectively he looks out for Taako and like.... Team Dad doing his best sometimes
Additionally, because we’ve gotta overanalyse all of this Merle talk like... do you think he’s deliberately keeping up this unaffected manner to try and keep the boys’ spirits up? Maybe not, in which case... do you think he genuinely only sporadically gives a damn about things?? Like he obviously doesn’t want to be in this Suffering Game TM but he’s still so chill about losing almost anything I’m. Has Merle given up on finding meaning in anything? A cleric who REGULARLY speaks dismissively of the god that keeps him alive and asks him face to face whether he thinks he’s stupid... makes a whole bunch of goofs.... maybe before everything else he needs to find some way to have faith in HIMSELF....
While we’re overanalysing here.... what’s not having a revenge mission gonna do for Magnus?? Is it gonna affect how he acts?? He remembers the bad things Calen did but not who he was and so what if he feels less personally responsible or something?? Is he gonna be a happier man but a less good hero??

13. Favourite mission from DA:O?This is a toughie! I always love personal quests, so doing things like killing Marjolaine (”you’re a bard, lady, what can you even do-” *doors smash open and twenty mercs sprint in* “…….oh”) was always enjoyable, but my absolute favourite has to be Broken Circle. Don’t get me wrong, it’ll take me at least another century to recover from the exhausting monotony actually playing the Fade: Lost In Dreams part of that quest, but so many of the story elements are really interesting to me. Seeing your companions in their dream realms is such a cool idea, dealing with all the different Templars is interesting, and obviously, Wynne is fantastic. Mostly what wins it for me though is that, because I love to play mages, I had seen the Circle Tower before it got all gross and fleshy, and I just felt so invested in the mission- these were my friends and guardians, and the Templars had failed to protect them… anxious inexperienced babby Surana to the rescue! (Once Surana figures out, no, you can’t just run real fast through the fire in the maze…) So yep. Broken Circle.
14. Favourite DA:O party combo?Alistair, Leliana and Sten! Alistair because he’s a real sweetheart as well as a good close-range fighter, Leliana because she’s a real sweetheart as well as an excellent sneaky rogue, and Sten because…. well. I was. actually desperate to befriend him. I think I saw him as a challenge?? Some kind of. Friend challenge?? (*secretly regrets not bringing Zevran around more*)
24. Favourite main story quest from DA:I?HOO BOY!! Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts gets a mention here because it’s a cool different idea for a quest and I love slimy political stuff and also solving problems by suggesting two ladies smooch, but my favourite is In Hushed Whispers. (My mage bias is showing;;;; )IHW definitely introduces fun new plot elements I haven’t seen in the other games; time magic is terrifyingly fucked up, and I really like how humanising Alexius’ storyline is? Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t justify what he does at all, but it’s really interesting to see a Tevinter villain who’s more complex than, say, Danarius or Hadriana or Erimond. He’s doing it all to save his son, and you do end up feeling some sympathy for him, even though the decisions he makes are fucked, yknow? It’s also a big old commentary on how anyone can massively misuse power if they think they’re doing the right thing, and I like to feel like there are a lot of lessons this quest can teach an Inquisitor that will have an impact on their future decisions- perhaps it makes them more cautious when making decisions, because they’ve seen how personal and emotional factors can interfere with what’s best for everyone, or perhaps it makes them more brash and forceful because they’ve seen what the world could become if they don’t make their own impact on it? Also, it means you get to save the mages. And, did I mention? Dorian’s there.
33. Favourite DA character overall?THIS IS THE TOUGHEST OF ALL. WHY WOULD YOU?? HOW?! Okay. All right. So. Honourable mentions first. I love Josie, because she’s perfect, and she’s this great mix of mature insight and sweet dreamy thoughts about princesses, and she’s also my wife. Iron Bull is a great concept, the “honest” spy, the big beefy guy people forget is super clever, and I love his character arc(s). Shame about his romance being disappointing. Sera and Dorian are obviously also grand, and Cassandra is the strongest and most wonderful lady and the only reason I and my soft, squishy magequisitors have survived literally any fight ever. (Come on, Bioware, let me recite love poetry to the strongwife as a lady…) Alistair is a beautiful mix of goof and good guy, plus he likes dogs, and he was my first DA romance, so obviously he has to be here. Wynne is wonderful and so much of her banter is so snarky, and her backstory is so sad… And I’m gonna goof this up now by talking about how Isabela should smash a creep’s face into a bartop in every DA game. She’s wonderful. I wanna adventure with her. Varric is an all-time fave, I love how he’s a nice guy and your best friend, and I would trust Aveline Vallen to sort out my real life.But. The current fave has to be Fenris. From his voice to his character arc to the fact that he lights up blue and nyooms across a battleground to save my goofy Hawke’s ass, so many things about him are engaging and interesting. Plus he turned up at my house specifically to tell me things about my dog. I would say I want him protected at all costs, but then I remember those canonical times he’s ripped people’s organs out, so maybe that’s not so necessary. Plus. Tiny shield on his hip when u kiss. BUT THIS WAS A DIFFICULT QUESTION
