I have some question for light series!
1) Can refiner turn back to his human form?
2) if so, which form does he find more confy?
3) since Bert hasn't turned into a titan, does Reader really think it's true?
4) Does titan Eren and Reader from your other series exist at the same time as them?
5) not a question, but thanks for giving us tender Bert and Reiner fic, they deserve all the love!
He can shift between his human and titan forms without any issues, though he’s certainly become quite reliant on his titan form due to the fact that he, Bert and the reader practically live in the wildlands between walls Maria and Rose. In a way, he’s learned to see the Armored Titan as more of an extension of himself rather than a wholly separate form, if only because he’s using it so actively to create a new life for himself and the others.
In my personal flavor as the reader, I don’t think they really believe that it’s true, or at least they don’t fully grasp the absolute terror that is Bert’s Colossal Titan form. I’m super excited when I finally write out the first time they see Bert transform, because it’s going to be a very emotionally-significant moment, as if reaffirming that these two are capable of so much destruction--they caused so much destruction--and that they’re doing everything to atone for it in their choice to put themselves entirely into making the reader’s life as happy as it can be with them.
Also because I’m a fucking sucker for that fear-flavored hurt/comfort shit
As for #4, very astute question! Though there’s no direct connection (yet) all the stories happening in the ‘To Love a Titan’ series are absolutely happening all in the same world, so Eren and his human are absolutely vibing somewhere out in the wildlands as well at the same time that Reiner, Bert are trying to be domestic house-husbands for their human.
And technically, though wholly unwritten and only vaguely mentioned, I have some ideas for a story dealing with Ymir and Historia (and a reader character), and that would actually tie events together between the three separate stories quite well. It’s hilarious because I’m actually SHIT with writing chaptered/linear storytelling, so even though I’ve gone completely in the other direction, my love for building lore and story arcs is still very much in the project as a whole.
Like, think something a la Marvel Cinematic Universe....but with more titans.
Basically: this is the nobody-dies, choose-your-titan-shifter lover/s, feel-good emotional fix-it, canon-divergent AU series.
