They also probably think it's a LOT more than it actually is; as someone living off of disability, I can afford basically nothing beyond my portion of rent and bills. The entire system expects you to have someone much more well off than you are to be taking care of you.
My family certainly thinks disability helps you live in the lap of luxury.
