Goodnight, Linda Pastan. She was a remarkable poet who I learned passed away at 90 recently on January 30, 2023. Here is my poem “Astronaut”, which was inspired by Pastan’s poem titled “Traveling Light.” My piece was originally published in the Nov/Dec 2019 issue of @thismagca. Go search out Linda Pastan’s writing. You won’t regret it. “Astronaut” after Linda Pastan Every time I take that giant leap outside our front door, I feel like I’ll miss our newborn’s entire lifetime. It’s as if I’ll be gone until a new Earth-like planet wobbles into view, or until Halley’s Comet smolders through the heavens once again. The gravity of it all leaving a crater in the craggy panorama of my chest.
