My favourite thing about Sirius Black is how goddamn unforgiving he is. He’s not going to apologize for being himself. He’s not going to change for anyone, in fact he can’t. He’s fought so hard to be who he wanted to be. And he never takes the good things in his life for granted. He knows what it’s like to have the whole world against you and he had to learn the hard way that nobody was going to fight for him if he didn’t fight for himself first.

And then he met James and had to unlearn that. He had to learn and unlearn things so many times that it softened him. I think Sirius as an old man is a very kind-hearted human being. I see him sitting in silence enjoying nature and birds because the world has put him through so much that he deserves that kind of peace.

There’s nothing I don’t like about Sirius Black :/ a younger more immature version of me would have said that I don’t like that he’s mean but I actually love that he’s mean now. So.

Favourite line: “we have a fucking werewolf” from choices. All the cruelty he’s capable of is put into this line. This is Sirius Black without love and without mercy. This is who he is if he refused to commit to being a good person. But he’s a stubborn little guy, and fights his way back every time he messes up.

Unpopular opinion: l feel like I don’t have one?? I really hate when people are weird about him finding out that regulus is dating James though. Like in canon I think it forces him to re-think who these two people are and that’s more his thing than anyone elses in an au I don’t see why he’d care all that much.

12.   Do you enjoy receiving feedback?

I really do! The problem is I need an equal balance of positive and negative or else I’ll start the anxiety spirals. But ultimately I want to be better, and that’s worth the anxiety feedback can bring.

3. Do you share your fic ideas or keep them to yourself

It depends on the story! Sometimes I am possessed so quickly that the story is done before I can even tell anyone about it!

Mercy Be has a wonderful beta reader @thisliminalspacedaydreams who is helping me so so much with all my weak points in writing (CLOTHING!! I AM SO BAD AT CLOTHING!!)

I love brainstorming sessions so much, truly they are some of my fondest memories with friends.

17. Do you have a writing routine

Yeah! Sort of? Honestly I just like being somewhere quiet. I don’t like background noise when I’m writing

THAT BEING SAID I write most productively in lectures I should be listening to. Thank u poetry class for your Literally Useless 1 hour lecture a week. 10/10 good for fanfiction.

55. Have you noticed any patterns in your writing?

Definitely. I am nothing but patterns. Coming up with new things is hard so when I find really good phrases I try rlly hard to reuse them in new and interesting ways! Is it brilliance? Is it laziness? Sometimes they’re the same thing:)

58. Do I have a favourite piece of figurative language that you’ve written

I do write a lot of figurative language. Some of my best of it is definitely in Ghosts Of Us. I also write a lot of poetry and maybe I’ll share that one day!

9. Tell me a piece of gossip

Today we did art crits in one of my classes and every single persons was Amazing but one guy did a 25 minute stand up post-modern theatre piece dissecting the sheer insanity that is bbno$. Like I cannot make this shit up it was Amazing and the most beautiful performance I've seen in my life, I think the absurdity of it was perfect, and he did a really good job.

11. What's a childhood quirk you never grew out of

Eating ice :/ turns out it was the anemia which was the celiac but it's a lifelong habit now dentists hate to see me coming

17. What's something random you find hot/attractive

I mean this with my full chest, the hottest thing in the world is being open minded and putting ur ego aside in order to connect with someone.

Like I think this is something that is genuinely difficult in our current culture to cultivate within yourself, especially if it's not something your parents taught you how to do at a young age.

And I also know it's something I personally struggle with on an emotional level, so I really admire it in other people.

3. What's the last think you looked up for a fic

I am on a watchlist somewhere. There's no reason a gal in Canada should be researching brain injuries and mass gen hospital in Boston back to back that's very suspicious behaviour.

I'm also just gonna leave this here (all fic research)

32. Out of all your fics which is your favorite title

I'm gonna be a bit of an ego here. I love all my titles SO much you are making me choose between my children.

Ghosts of Us is an immortal fic with Mary meeting the marauders again and again and that title is SO fitting because she's literally meeting echos of her friends every century.

In Our Midst is a Regulus figuring out Peter is a spy for Voldemort au

BUT

I think Maybe It's The Getting By is so poignant for the themes of the fic. On their worst days they're just getting by, but on their best days it's beautiful. It's based on The Killers song The Getting by which is about surviving the monotony of a small town. I think after everything these characters have been through, the every-day is scary. The every day is a new kind of horror.

I also have an open wound in my chest towards being from a small town where something bad has happened. My town has been through some shit over the past couple years, and I feel like I'm really leaning on those feelings for this story, especially in the latter half.

I think all of this is symbolized in its title, so that one really does take the cake (funny joke from the celiac girl)
