Today I got to borrow my boss’s modern lineman’s test set to try and diagnose a malfunction on our dedicated office fax line, which receives very infrequent usage. Tomorrow, I’ll be bringing in mine to attempt further diagnostics. Plus, I’m not about to completely reinvent how we handle faxes due to that system probably getting a major overhaul when we throw out our PBX... whenever that will be.
I opened up that Western Electric 52A, and look what I found!
Not only is it very well put together inside, it comes with a schematic! This makes my understanding of these devices much clearer.

So I bought a 1970′s Western Electric lineman’s buttset on ebay. Won the auction today, only spending about $16 total. Should be here in about 2 weeks max.
And what’s worse is that Spinneretsystems encouraged this behavior -- but that’s what friends are for, right?
Talk me out of buying a 1970′s Western Electric lineman’s rotary buttset off of ebay for 25 bucks (including shipping). Please?
