On crisp days we take a look at crisp new artwork in painted black aluminum by Frances Gallardo. “Line to Line” (2018) at the Metro-North Railroad Mount Vernon 14th Avenue station bridge represents an imagined map of historical Mount Vernon, nicknamed “City of Homes”. Stemming from the blueprints of the original city planning designs, Gallardo interpreted these linear forms by overlaying them with a patchwork-like map, suggestive of a tapestry and reflecting the dynamism of movement taken on daily paths throughout the city.
